Background sounds of another aircraft starting

Postby RHB » Tue Jul 01, 2014 7:36 pm

This is a weird one, wonder if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon.
When selecting an aircraft (no particular one) and sitting on the ground engines off, there in the background I here a jet spooling up as if to start. apparently there is some error with another aircraft, but why it can manifest like this beats me. It's not a big deal, just wondering if anyone ever experienced this?

Check your Traffic .... AI Slider..........If you have it engaged you might see or hear a jet or two no matter what plane you choose. It's more than likely an ai spooling up...............
Although I started MSFS many years ago, I'm a noob on Simviation, well, at least at posting comments. Always been kinda reluctant to post or respond. I've always appreciated the comrade here.
Hope this helps...

...as Mr. Plane says...

And if you go scan around, in internal/external view, you will spot the other AI aircraft aircraft!

Thanks Fozzer...........I guess if I was in a plane that was "cold and dark" and heard other aircraft spooling, i would say my sim is about as realistic as you can get...........sound is part of the immersion. :D

Did you ever find out where those sounds were coming from? I'm a bit curious myself. Nice scenerys you are developing by the way. Do you plan on doing any Florida airports?

Well it isn't AI aircraft I can here it in flight over a remote section of the Italian Alps, Seiser Alm to be specific. Very strange. I have a suspicion what it is, I'll report back if I solve it.

Hi RHB,
I've been leisurely flying cross country on a daily basis. At each stop I've been shutting down and saving. With everything off I still noticed a rather nondescript sound. I wouldn't describe it as a jet spooling up but perhaps this is related. I did find that it's the "Environment" sound. I couldn't locate the sound file but I would like to change it to something like a light wind or perhaps something else.

I got Tinitus too then!
When ever i start cold and dark no matter where, i get an annoying ship/carrier rumble sound! Simply cant locate it
So its not that unusual, i just wish it were a jet spinning up ;)

So its' not unheard of. Well when your soaring over the alps in a sailplane and you here a turbine starting up it is not so desirable. Now at least i know it is not only me experiencing sound "ghosts" in FSX, would love to here some knowledgeable person explain a possible reason. I tried deleting the suspected aircraft and all associated files but that was no it.
Very curious.

Hey RHB,
I'm trying to verify that we're talking about the same thing. If I turn the "Environment " sound slider all the way down the sound goes away. Could you check this and post your findings? I'd like to fix this.

Hi,
Today I noticed that the sound goes away if I select "Clear skies". I didn't try other weather settings.
