One other thing you might want to think about is the fact that Microsoft will stop supporting all windows except for the current version sooner or later.
Windows XP will go first.
Mind you the current version you have will still work but M$ will no longer provide updates or any support for it.

Looking online I can get a copy of Win 7 pro 64 bit for 79 bucks and end my FSX/8.1 woes for at least the next 5 or 6 years.
I'm sure someone will come up with a work around for 8.1 eventually but I don't give a crap about touch screen or fast boot. I don't like the tile interface, in fact I don't even want to hear the number 8 again. What a way to piss away hard earned money.

Just an update!! I have my FSX up and running as smooth as silk with Windows 8.1. Even got my joystick working. It took a lot of reading other folks posts and plus some tweaking on the video card. <<q Now it's just a matter of getting my GEX, REX and Accuefeel back. :dance:
