If you could bring back a plane

as the title states if you could bring back a plane that is no longer used which plane would it be and what would you do to make it so people and or airlines would want to buy it and use it again.

I would bring back the 727 with the 727 I 800, 727 I 900, and the 727 I 1000 XWB
this 727 would be able to fly from the east coast to Beijing non stop hence the I for international. the 727-800 would be as long as a 767-300 have up to date instruments fuel efficient engines and a nesting system. 727-900 this model would be as long as a 777-300er and would offer increased range. 727-1000 XWB this one would share the same length as the 900 model but it would offer more seating and or fright capacity. all planes would come with the new scimitar winglet.




mines more of a small example on what id like to see in the comments below.

With the changes you've made these could warrant a new designation number, just as the first 737 could have been designated a 727-xxxx. ;)

What would I bring back.........The Super VC-10. Fastest (and still is I believe) production airliner ever built VNE Mach .94 (there is a documented flight that cruised at .95 for a medical emergency) naturally outside of Concord . But the main reason why............. four engines that when at take off power made the four horsemen of the apocalypses sound like they were out for a Sunday trot......... O0 And still being able to hear them when the aircraft was 15 mikes away and climbing O0 O0

The two jet planes mentioned are my favorite, but VC10 is my choice.

But 727 is also a good choice, I've flown a lot in this plane (as passenger...)

No question in my mind, the DC-8-63/64....the stretch 8's!. I grew up riding all over the place in those things, Hawaii, Truk, Majuro...you name it. Occaisionally even got to see my father fly them once or twice :D It was his favorite bird in UAL's fleet.
Ironically, the least favorite bird was the 727. Apparently they were a bear in x-wind landings due to the wind catching unpredictably the big ol' T-Tail. Popular in Hawaii though as short-hoppers amongst the islands, at least till the 737's got real big (so to speak! :lol: ) -----> I <----- however, at the tender age of 13 or so, was the first to discover the small red button, center of the ceiling in the Coach section, if I may say so, in absolutely no modesty whatsoever! Discovered it one flight on a Hawaiian Air 727 between Oahu and Kaui. I observed it very carefully, and finally, being the nosey, excitable boy, they all said (small paraphrase there!) asked one of the flight engineers assigned to one of our flights. After all, who better to ask? He didn't have a clue, as neither did the copilot, or even the Captain (Junior to my father, if I may be so modest as to say...). There was a long discussion amongst them and my father and the lead mechanic in Honolulu. No one, but NO one had any idea. Still didn't, to the day they replaced them with 737's, as far as I ever knew. Just one of the little mysteries of life, I guess! Still fun being the one to point it out first :D
My fathers' second favorite bird, as far as I knew, was the 737. They called them the "Mini-Pigs" amonst the UAL pilots. After a few years of flying them amonst the California commuter routes up and down the US Wast Coast, he got to checking into the various airports he was arriving at as..."HEY, HEY, HEY! It's Faaaaaaaat Albert, UAL Flight 8741, on base for arrival, SFO! (or whereever...)" His name is Alfred, btw, so a little poetic liscence there...And did you know, you can land a 737, filled with fuel, pax and luggage at KSFO, at Portland, which at the time was a single runway, taxiway midpoint. Either make the taxiway, or taxi to the end, turn around and taxi all the way back, once you have a break in the traffic. Wellll....with a full load on, the little 737 can be planted on the numbers ummm...firmly shall we say, then full reversers, brakes, everything applied to be able to make the taxiway! Saves lotsa time taxiing around, but surely a fun time being leaned forward in the seats, then sideways as the turn is made a triffle....rapidly, shall we say. Kinda fun watching the ailerons struggling to make the wings stay moderately level during that turn! Really, probably against all kindsa safety regs and policies, but understandable, and, believe it or not, appreciated, on the day's last flight, full up and just wanting to get home for the weekend! Not that I would know from personal experience, of course...no, really! Would I fib to y'all?? Ok, ok...don't ansawer that... :D

Anywho, just a little reminiscing there, thanks for letting me ramble on for a bit! :lol:

would have been nice to have seen what those who replied would do to the plane to make it appealing to the airlines. yes the vc-10 is a nice plane I my slef got to see one on the ground at work once it was to far away and at the time I did not know I could get back to where it was to take a picture of it. ive even seen the an-124 and some other 4 engine Russian aircraft that had its engines in the back near the tail.

Well, if you start to make things appealing to the airlines, you would end up changing so much the aircraft you brought back would not be the aircraft you brought back.......if you see what I mean.... :?

First flew in a VC10 way back in 1966, BOAC Nairobi to Heathrow. We landed 1st at Uganda (the old Entebbe) and used every inch of the runway to take off again. Next stop Benghazi where the Libyans confiscated all the Gov Employees passports and the cleaners stole my package of Elephant tusks for my collection of wood carvings. The best thing about the VC10 was the engines at the back. Couldn't hear a thing, seriously, the quietest ride ever. <<v

One would be the Lockheed Electra. I rode in one several times in my youth, Eastern Airlines. It was smooth and comfortable and had a long range.

The other would be the Lockheed L-1011. I rode in one from Atlanta to Los Angeles and back to Orlando. Delta Airlines. It was big inside but not so much as the B-747.

Lockheed makes great planes. Nobody else has made planes that the Navy and Air Force purposely fly into hurricanes. From the P2V Neptunes to the P-3 Orions and C-130s.

F-4 Phantom IIs. I remember being a kid and hearing some real window rattling sonic booms. Also the twin columns of black turbojet exhaust smoke, the likes of which you just don't see anymore.
