I find that hard to believe. Try giving us what system you are trying to run this on and give us a download link so we can check it out.
I have a Saitek Cessna Yoke with Throttle quadrant and have never had any problems flying any aircraft. But I do not have any 777 in my fleet

If you've just bought the flight sim controller(s) be advised that strange and random assignments can, and will, be automatically assigned.

As I stated above I have never had any problems at all. The package I bought came with its own software which is a profile editor.
This allows me to assign any of the standard commands to any button or lever I want. The way I have it set now I can talk to ATC with the push of two buttons on the yoke. But I have assigned flaps, gear throttle and reverse to different buttons or levers it is only when I have to use the number 3 or number 4 option on some of the ATC request that I have to use my keyboard and if i wanted I could assign them as well just have not done so.
