Missing

Postby Steve M » Fri May 09, 2014 4:14 pm

I'm posting this to get your reactions and what would you do.. My 'wifes' great neice has been missing for 2 and a half days. At age 17 she has had no cell phone activity since Wednesday at 5 pm. Her mother is heartbroken of course, as is my wife. I posted some of K8s photos a while back, It is K8s daughter. And unlike her to run away.
Thanks for listening because it's a very helpless feeling we have..

There's nothing that I can say to help, other than that the news of it makes me feel very, very sad.

Best wishes Steve.

This is a very serious matter. The primary question to you: Have you notified the police? That's the first thing I would do. If so, what did they say? If not, why?

Thanks for the reply Apex.. The police were notified by her mother, that's how we know her I phone isn't giving any transmisions or gps locations. So, no one knows if she is just being an obstanant teen or in danger. I posted this because you can get a slight feeling of anger if she is just zooming in on self pity, or really in big trouble. I know this is an odd post on Simvi but the answer is bugging me..

Have you or her mom tried to contact any of her friends? A very best friend perhaps? They might have an idea what's up. Did she have any "big" arguments with her parents lately that might have triggered a reaction like this? Does she have a boyfriend? Where is he right now? What about school, any problems there? Any bullying going on?

I hope you find her soon. Good luck!

Or perhaps a boyfriend y'all don't know about? "BFF"s tend to know these things better than anyone...
Or does she have a diary, either on-line or a written one, perhaps? They can provide amazing amounts of information for the police.
I know this may be a hard thing to hear, it sure is hard to say, but a 17 y/o girls with NO cellphone activity, unless she bought a burner someplace, is a truely bad sign....I am so sorry if that sounds harsh, but there really isn't a better way to say something like that...

I do sincerely hope she turns up, hungry, remorseful, and tired, back at her parent's front door soon...

How about checking for bank withdrawals? Cash machines have cameras. I would muster up all my influential contacts to find out anything. I know it sounds bad, but you have to think the worst and start to look in earnest. This girl is in danger whichever way you look at it. Especially get a look at her current up to date bank statement.

I'm so sorry. As an ex-police officer, I can tell you that most of the time, this ends up as a runaway situation. Get your local police involved and press them to work for you. Get your neighbors involved as well as friends she has. Someone has the answer to her whereabouts, it's just an issue of finding the right person. At that age, I thought I had all the answers to life; now, I'm not so sure I even know what all the questions are. Hang in there. Hopefully, she'll get wet enough, hungry enough and scared enough to make a phone call and come home. I think it safe to say we all care, and pray all works out for you and your family.

She's back at home this morning, I don't the story but I think it was a runaway. Thank you all for your replies and concerns. You just never know what's going through a kids mind.

VERY good news!

Kids today think that they're adults and know everything that they need to know. I know that I did at that age!

Hopefully she now knows a little bit better.

Glad she's home. I just hope that her parents don't chastise her, just hug her lots for me.
