The old SimV Archives?

Postby Staiduk » Sun Apr 27, 2014 3:02 am

Hi folks :)

Look - a few years ago; I wrote a damn good (if I do say so myself) story called "In Darkness, The Rose" which I never managed to finish. I posted it on the old SimV forum; in the 'Edited Screenshot' section, since it included...er...edited screenshots. I never managed to finish the story due to real-world issues; that has always deeply bothered me. I know the old forum still exists as an archive; can someone please direct me to those old archives? I'm sure I can tunnel down into them and find the old story. If so; I may be able to finally finish it. :)

Cheers!

Yes; I've found it Cherokee, thanks to Hagar. Gimme a couple days; I'll put it up again. And THIS time; I promise to finish it. I'm not going to add pics; they were an unneccesary burden. But before the week is out; thestory will be finished.
(Aside - gimme a couple hours right now and I'll find all the pieces of the novella.)

Thanks. :)

I'm very close to finishing my first novel (Kylie has undergone an...er...major refit ;) ) and have been focussing on that the past couple years (I'll put up an excerpt at the drop of a hat...lol). But never finishing 'Darkness' really annoyed me for some reason. Seemed to annoy a LOT of others too - while I have several short stories and novellas out there on the Internet; this was the first that seemed to have genuine interest and appreciation.
I'll do my best to FINALLY get it done. :)

Hey guys; this is more than a little embarrassing but...

I need people's help here.

I've written the last three chapters of the story; the other seven(?) parts are on the Orbiter forum somewhere.

The problem is; I've been banned from the Orbiter forum due to a longstanding argument between myself and their Moderators. It's a little humiliating; I've never been removed from any place online before but I refuse to accept their decisions in this matter. The argument itself is not a matter for debate; though I hope you can guess I would not have maintained it if I did not believe in it. The problem is that I posted the earlier parts of the story on the Orbiter forum and thanks to my ban I can't find them now.

If anyone can find the post listing the earlier parts; I would be grateful. I can probably rebuild the story thanks to Hagar's excellent research; but that one post listing every part would be a much easier resource.
I am of course aware this question might be at odds with the Orbiter Mods' decision; hence my nervousness in asking. As a former Moderator myself; I take the role seriously and do not wish to violate their decision. Any further discussion would bring in my argument with them; which I am not prepared to do at this time. I'm just looking for that one post.

Sorry, folks.

(Edit...Ahhh....forget it. I'll cruise the Archives and rebuild the story piecemeal; it might take some time. No-one ever said art was supposed to be easy. I just wish people wouldn't use their ban authority to win a stupid argument.)

OK...ignore my last post, please. I found the story segments (with a bit of luck) and am rebuilding them now. With luck; I'll have the entire story complete and finished within three days. I hope the finished story is suitably good. After eight years it should be.

In my own defence; let me offer that I feel I was ill-used by the Orbiter Mods. But that is MY argument; THIS forum doesn't need to bother with it.

Sorry.
