yeah thanks for that bass:

when I was a newbie : all of the other memebers who been here alot longer than I/ we have I see it this way and maybe some other newbies is that the other members before are a family. we newbies are like outsiders looking in try to find that one click to try to fit in but no clicks. when we post something someone will respond and thats it. I have 3 who responds to my posts and those two still with me today you know the 3 I'm talking about. for those 3 thanks for the help and their time. you see its easy to just post and someone answers it and thats it but they do not have to thanks way I try to remember to say thank for the help and or thanks for the time to answer this post because if was not for these 3 I would not come along way like I did. (I know I just went to from we "nebies" to "I :well I'm makeing a point here). even today when I post something I'm thinking someone is going to slam me. *( well we will not learn if we do not ask; I thought thats what the forums are for but sometimes I think diffferently. at this point I'm not concider as a newbie but a rookie but with out the knowledge and the wisdom like you guys have I will still be stuck there. I'm not saying I should know everything about the planes folders and to tweak them if that was true I will be a pilot. another example I got an A380 american airlines in my fsx its a stupid plane it does not take off, it crashes for no reason when I do make it up in the air. but I could delete this plane and alot of times I think of it but in my mind I want this plane and and right now my" I want this plan to take off and fly over "powers me from deleteing it for now. the point I;m trying to make is that I will be posting alot iof threads so I can learn from you so I can put that skill that you taught me to make the planes fly in the air not on the ground. and that I can fix my own planes with out asking all the memebers that way I would not be bothering you and you can keep on flying.

I'm sure someone is going to say something negitive. ok lets hear it ( all the negitives) abut this post.

Bombardier, when I first tried FSX with nothing but a cheap joystick, I wanted to throw it in the trash!

There was NO WAY you could control this thing. I couldn't even land a Cessna 172 on the longest runway that I could fine.

THIS GAME STINKS!!!!!!

Well.....

Some people like it.

Maybe I'll try again.

HOW THE HECK DO YOU ADD AN AIRPLANE!!!!

THIS GAME STINKS!!!!!!

Well.......

I may bounce up & down A LOT but it does stop on the runway.

Sometimes.

The point is that most of us start from nowhere.

You want a SLAM?

Here it is YOU ask some of the best newbie questions.

Seriously. You ask questions that I haven't thought of, so I'll read your posts to learn something.

As to this site.

There are sites where newbies get ridiculed for asking a simple question or two. This site isn't one of them, although some of us do have a bad day or two.

I tend to post a lot on things that interest me, but others don't post back all that much.

It is a very social collection of people here. As you said, trying to break in can seem intimidating.

If you think that you've intruded upon someone, or upset someone just do what I do -

Give them a drop kick right in the crotch and run like hell.

Next time they may treat you a little better. :D

Tug,
Don't let the "Newbie" status bother you. Everyone here was a Newbie at some point in time and everyone has had a question or two they needed an answer for.

This is the ONLY forum I have joined in the last couple of years or have cared to join. I was in one other forum a while ago but there were too many egos and pompous

resident know-it-alls for my liking. The folks here are really a super bunch who truly enjoy their hobby and welcome ALL fellow simmers, rookie or pro alike.

My only regret is that we haven't all met on an "in person" basis. Maybe we need to have a convention or something?

Welcome Tug. I'm a bit like you, don't post a lot of useful stuff, but I'm forever grateful to those that help. It's all about sharing, so if you feel like saying your 2 bits, please feel free. O, by the way, the emoticons may not be as you see, and if you want to post a picture or save your signature, you have to be a magician too.

hello old airmail:

heay thats yeah spell backwards my mistake: thanks for the respose

about the post I put in I do not think like that all the time just when I get frustrated like now with this A#*). oops it suppose to say A380 trying to fix.

I got this A380 american airlines talking cannot fly have you ever flew on the ground, its tricky I do alot of the times with this A380. I do not what up with this thing I'm thinking pulling all the folders out and paste the ones I have from my other A380s and try them out.

bombardier

ps. do not give up keep trying, I started off with the camsims there easy to intall until you get use to installing different planes it may take a while. next I picked project opensky its about the same install but its one step more in detail than camsims. project airbus is a lilttle tricky but I think you can figure that out. these are just my ideas that I used. you might want pick you own planes to install. I just saying this is my method I'v adopted and it works for me. you might want to develope your own ways to install. but if you feel brave tray the camsims first if you want to that is.

I got faith in you that you can do it. just hang in there. I have to answer to your post old airmail those poor passengers in the cessna just kidding

I've gotten over those bad days, but I was close to tossing FSX in the trash for a while.

My priorities are

#1 - Is the simulator working the way that I want it to?

#2 - Does the scenery/environment look good?

#3 - Is this plane worth my time? If not, I just delete it, there are usually other choices.

Enjoy flying and leave the bad planes for another day. <<v

Going back to the original topic. New members & beginners have always been welcome here & there is usually someone able to help them.

Spammers pretending to be newbies are not. There has been a recent spate of topics where a new member has posted an apparently genuine question that is unrelated to a flight simulator forum. These new members usually post once then never return. Pete posted a way to recognise these spammers here -- > http://forums.simviation.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=169690

Unfortunately if the links in their sigs are removed by the mods they appear genuine & can no longer be recognised. This is one example of what I'm talking about. http://forums.simviation.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=169703
Note it was posted in the Music, Arts & Entertainment section.

I'm always happy to try & help with genuine problems. I've been doing it on this forum with some success since 1999. If I don't know the answer I remain silent to avoid confusion. With installation problems involving 3rd party aircraft/scenery it's much easier to have an example with a file name or link to the page it's posted on. This saves a lot of wasted time & frustration on both sides. Sometimes a screenshot showing the problem can be a big help. Like most things on the PC it's really not difficult to post an image on this forum once you understand the basic principle.

Many spams have been apparent but I've sometimes had to hesitate to be sure. The forum topics have so expanded here from what once was; sometimes posts are made in the wrong forum topic area (such as a specific sim problem in the General topic) and I see I'm not the only one who just lets it go if it gets answered. If it's @ one of the older sims, it may not be seen in its proper location and I'd not expect a newbie to know to link if not getting an answer.
As to you, Doug/Hagar, you've been here a long while, along with many others, with apt advice -- usually...
:D ;)

Agreed H & like you I try not to jump to conclusions.

I'd not expect a newbie to know to link if not getting an answer.

Quite. However, the single post spammers in Pete's example know how to include links in their sigs. That's one thing that raises my suspicions.

PS. The exact question in my earlier example was answered on the Yahoo website 4 years ago. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100429161223AAg6AZH

Interesting.

So, if my job is to post "questions" and a (spam) link in a language that I don't know, I could copy a short one from elsewhere and paste both the question & the link into whatever forums I could find.

What we see, would be a legitimate, if somewhat inappropriate, question.

I'm not sure how "they" get paid, but it must be easier than scratching a line in the dirt to plant a seed.

Even I could (probably ) do it. :shifty:
