Your Personel Information is Compromised !

Postby Jetranger » Sat Mar 22, 2014 8:23 am

3/22/2014

Well, I just received an EMail Notification from Good ol' Pay Pal inc.

Now most people, the general John Q Public, thinks their too busy and don't have the time to actually thoroughly read the New Notifications.

They just Glance at it, real quick, looks like a bunch of legal Jargon, that probably doesn't really concern them, so, click agree and move on'.

Hey, they Glanced at it, for about 3.5 seconds, think they got the Jest of it, and decided, they just don't have time to actually read the Policy notice,, and how it will effect them, I mean, who's got time for that ??????

They've got Texts to make on their cell, calls to make to see what Party their goin to, they just have way more important things to do, than worry about Stupid Private Policy Notices,,, I mean, who really cares about that stuff anyway ??????

WE got better things to do - Right ~ ???????

and Besides, its PAY PAL, "YOU" can "Trust" them right, their PAY PAL for Christ sakes !!!

You can use PAL PAL to buy,, say Aircraft and scenery from all kinds of sites.

Their Trusty, their Pay Pal !!

Well, lets just slam the brakes on right there and come to a complete STOP !!!

Image

I'd highly Suggest YOU take the time to actually read the entire Privacy policy agreement they've just rolled out and NOT just glance at it for 3.5 seconds, and think you've got the JEST of it.

Above all else, "YOU AGREE" - "YOU AGREE" to all kinds of whatevers now their attempting to come up with, including "Monitoring your computer", your phone calls and all types of other insane ridlicious absurd Crazy ideas, just so you can supposedly do business with them Pay Pal.

I can see where they need some information, but this is Wayyyyyyyyy over the Top !!!

This is NOT "PRIVACY" protection as they Spin it !!

its a Complete "Invasion" of your Privacy, they can Spin the BS anyway they want, call it whatever they like, attach whatever terminology they want to it, but it is exactly what it is - "Invasion of Privacy" !! to the Core !!!

Again, you've really got to take the time to actually read the document !

I especially like the part, that states "YOU AGREE" to more less let PAY PAL, use your Logo's, Trademarks, whatevers as they deem necessary and without any Royalty Claims against them.

essentially, they want to be able to use your Logo's, Trademarks art work, photos, etc to promote their web site to make them MONEY, at your Expense, that's what that boils down to !!!

Now, could you do that with them ???????

think YOU could use their logo's and Trademarks and copyrighted work to make yourself a few million dollars, without hearing from them ???

see where this is going !!!

They are turning this into a 1 Way Runway or Street, beneficial to them only, and at your time and Expense !!!

Remember - "YOU" agree to it !!! even tho you may not, You do anyway.

and they store your "Personel Information" on their servers "World Wide", like there probably isn't enough already of everybodys Personel Information stored everywhere already !!

Ohhhh, Well you can just choose to "OPT-OUT" of all that thru their web site, most Naïve will believe, and everything will just be hunky dory, right ????

Why would YOU believe any of that, just because you placed a check box in some Little box on their web site,

Like the FOX guarding the Hen House !!!

Wan't too long ago that a "Super Huge Mega DATA BREACH" took place affecting Millions upon Millions of people, those same people who thought they too were "SAFE" , thought,,,,, Assumed, took for Granted !!!!

Data Security Breach : http://www.npr.org/2014/03/13/289836952/report-target-missed-its-chance-to-prevent-data-breach

Also, PAY PAL says YOU AGREE to let them place small Files on your computer, NOT just cookies either, aside from Cookies, these are Different !!!!

This way, PAYPAL will have the Ability to Track YOU, on not only their web site , but others was well,,,, other sites you Visit outside of PAYPAL, and that information may be used with 3rd parties, whoever 3rd parties could be !

QUESTION is, do YOU really really Trust these Big Corporations with your Personel information, just because their a Big Company ??

What about the people they Hire to work for them, do you Trust them, do you know them ?????

Those 3rd Party whatever they supposedly work with, do you actually know who they are ????

Why would you TRUST them or - even better - who they have working for them !!!

Data Breach HACK : http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2014/02/24/apple-customers-are-latest-victim-of-data-breach/

Placing files on peoples computers and without their knowledge or even exactly what type of files or not even knowing where those files are located should be of Concern to everybody !!!

Ohhh yes, you placed that phony checkmark in that little tiny box to NOT share your personel information, and YOU believe that, and everythings just gonna be hunky-dory , right ???????

A very quick scroll through that lot...>>> https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/ua/u ... le.x=en_US

...confirms my suspicions that I should keep well away from; "Pay Pal"!.... ...!

I have made no use of it so far.

I have more faith in my UK Bank's Credit and Debit Cards for everyday use.

Here's my thoughts on the matter... 1. Don't join Pay Pal
2. Don't use a debit card that is tied into your primary bank account for online purchases
3. Don't use your "big" credit cards for online purchases
4. Have one "small" (low credit limit) credit card to use for online purchases

I don't make large purchases online simply because I want to inspect the merchandise when I purchase it and online return policies vary a lot. Online returns can be such a big hassle anyway. You have to repack and ship the product back to the seller and wait for reimbursement. And who knows how long your bank will take to adjust your balance. Two of my offspring actually buy major household furniture items online which really blows my mind. I like Debit cards for local purchases but they don't carry the same fraud protection as a credit card, at least not here in the U.S. I keep one credit card with a low credit limit ($500.00 USD) just for online purchases such as payware aircraft and whatever the Mrs. wants. That way if there is a security breach or any fraudulent activity on my card it's not nearly as catastrophic as someone busting into my bank account via my debit card or racking up huge charges on my "big" credit cards. Although my bank has offered to increase my card limit many times over the years I keep saying "no thanks". I'm probably the only customer they have that says no to a limit increase. I'm sure one of these days they are going to call and ask who my attending psychiatrist is.

That's my stategy anyway, for what it's worth. - Hawkeye

Yawn....

Ever Googled yourself? Thoroughly? Any idea how much Google knows about you? PayPal is just a small fish compared to pages like Google or Facebook, Yahoo and many more. Want privacy? Don't use the internet, don't go outside your house, live inside with all the curtains closed. Don't call your mom either. Someone might be listening.

1) Monitoring your computer, everyone does that, biggest and most obvious would be your search engine to me. Do you ever see when you search for something on the web, and you receive the results, on that same page it will offer results like "May we Suggest". Sometimes those suggestions have nothing to do with what we were looking for, just soley based on our web browsing habits, you know recording our history of our web browsing. You should be real glad that you never shared information with an unsecured site.
Phone call monitoring, happens everytime we do business on the phone. A person is informed before talking to a representative from the company, that this phone call may be, or will be monitored. This is nothing new allot of companies do this, and have for quite some time now.

2) You can't even register with any site, or forum anywhere without giving up that right. This is from the TOS here,

6. CONTENT MADE AVAILABLE FOR INCLUSION ON THE OSI SERVICE
OSI does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion via the OSI Service. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the publicly available OSI Service, you irrevocably grant OSI the perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license, with the right to sublicense through multiple tiers of sublicensees, to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform and publicly display such Content, in whole or in part, on the OSI Service or other publications by OSI in any media whether now existing or which come into the existence into the future and to provide that information under the license set forth on the initial page of the http://www.opensource.org/ Web site. And for Content you submit for private discussions, you grant OSI the worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform and publicly display such Content on the associated private discussion group.

It's the same here, as anywhere you go, nothing new here.

3) Of course they store your personal information, they do this so you don't have to go through the whole registration process everytime you want to use their service. It helps them identify just who you are, and the more you use their service a history is made for them, as well as for your viewing pleasure.
If there is personal and undisclosed information already scattered all over on an individual on the web, that person didn't do a very good job of keeping it secret to begin with.

4) From Pay Pal,

When you access our website or use PayPal Services, we (including companies we work with) may place small data files on your computer or other device. These data files may be cookies, pixel tags, "Flash cookies," or other local storage provided by your browser or associated applications (collectively "Cookies"). We use these technologies to recognize you as a customer; customize PayPal Services, content, and advertising; measure promotional effectiveness; help ensure that your account security is not compromised; mitigate risk and prevent fraud; and to promote trust and safety across our sites and PayPal Services.
You are free to decline our Cookies if your browser or browser add-on permits, unless our Cookies are required to prevent fraud or ensure the security of websites we control. However, declining our Cookies may interfere with your use of our website and PayPal Services.

It appears to me that after leaving their website, you can delete your web browsing history, and cookies. You'll just have to accept the cookies again when you revisit the site.

5) The section here should read "Caveat Emptor" (buyer beware)
It appeared to me that Pay Pal is weeding out the riff raft. Getting rid of all the people that have scammed others using Pay Pal in the past, or those that backed out of paying using Pay Pal, Insufficient Funds, and etc.. I know I wouldn't of wanted to deal with even 1/10th of the complaints they have received from Buyers/Sellers just at ebay. I don't blame Pay Pal one bit for coming up with a solution to the problem.
These other parties that Pay Pal are going to associate with are Credit Bureau's, and Financial Institutions from what I seen and read. If a person doesn't accept, or accepts, then fails to meet their requirements from Financial Statements acquired by the persons approval, it appears to me they will be denied service to use Pay Pal. The same way a Bank does business, you won't get a loan with a bad credit rating. The people at Pay Pal to me seems to be tightening up the reigns, and there will be some that will no longer be able to use Pay Pal.

6) From Pay Pal,

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We may combine your information with information we collect from other companies and use it to improve and personalize PayPal Services, content, and advertising. If you do not wish to receive marketing communications from us or participate in our ad-customization programs, simply indicate your preference by logging into your account and going to the Notification section under the Settings tab and updating your preferences, or by following the directions that may be provided within the communication or advertisement.

Now an institution such as Pay Pal I would think wouldn't offer to the individual, his right to have his Privacy, and not to share information with 3rd parties outside of Pay Pal, then just turn around give it out anyway. A person that doesn't check the appropriate boxes in their account settings, or responding back through the email correspondence, will allow for any outside Pay Pal 3rd parties to receive their information upon request after the 15-May deadline.

I like what Pay Pal is doing, and have been using Pay Pal for years. I myself will continue to use Pay Pal, as they are working for me even harder now from what I've seen to keep me from purchasing from not so reputable dealers. Were all going to do what we want. We all interpret what we read different than what others read and interpret to be. The post above are just that of my views.

I'd rather use Paypal than give out my credit card details to an on-line service such as Simviation. Paypal is the preferred method of payment for millions of people, more trusted than any other, especially UK banks.

I have used PayPal sometimes in the past, never had a problem.

With Amazon, I use credit cards, again, never had a problem. I also do not get bombarded with catalogs when buying through Amazon.

I use credit cards with online purchasing only with other vendors I trust, like big name dept stores.

I would not use debit cards online. (I don't have any debit cards, anyway.)

I would never use credit cards with any vendor that was unknown to me.

As far as personal info, I have not had any problems in that area either.

I clean my cookies and scan for anything regularly.

I get almost no junk mail whatsoever. I put myself on the Direct Mktg no-mail list, and that no-catalogs thing from Amazon saves on the junk also. If you buy directly from a vendor, chances are that you will
then start receiving catalogs from that vendor, and that vendor will also give out your address to others.

If I get unwanted catalogs in the mail, I email or write the sender and tell them to stop the catalogs or I'll file a complaint with their local Consumer Protection Division office. That usually works well.

Now if I can find a piece of wood, I suppose I should knock on it.
