Regarding a tutorial, if your haven't used an aircraft flight simulator before, my advice would be to try the Flying Lessons in the Introduction to FSX,
where there is lots of useful information, and then spend many, many hours practising your flying skills in the default Cessna 172 trainer, taking off and landing at your preferred airfield/airstrip, LONG before flying a more complex aircraft!

Easy stages first, and learn as you go....

Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

If you want some free Canadian airports go to www.flightontario.com. Also www.antsairplanes.com/ has tons of Aussie airports. Enjoy. :D

Well my personal favourite is OZx

Most of these guys went on to become ORBX - but they left over 3Gb of scenery (for FREE) behind them as they went

Avsolute must add-on for any flight sim is FSUIPC, available here on Simviation, Avsim and Flightsim for free. There is also a registerable version DL-able from the original author's site, darn if I can find it now. Many many add-on gauges and so on require it, including SweetFX another must have, IMO. :handgestures-thumbupright: It make for an entirely new-looking sim! AND requires FSUIPC!

And now, I've talked myself into a circle of mass confusion, I bid you great simming!

This is a year end review of what I think were the best of FSX from 2013 - A good year for FSX.

But, of course, everyone will have their own choices.

There's both freeware and payware mentioned, and you'll be surprised at just how good much of the freeware is out there.

The Orbx site is great place for BOTH freeware & payware scenery - FTX Global Freeware Airports NA Packs 1 to 7..

But keep looking on their site, there's much more - FTX Global Freeware Airports NA Pack 9.

Want free planes & more? Click on the header at the top of the page. It's not just there to look pretty.

Here's a sample of freeware scenery.

Finding the "good stuff" can be hard, because there's a lot of mediocre stuff around. But reading through the replies should keep you busy for a month or two, anyway. :D

Thanks for the link to NA pack 9! Meadows Field is looking great.

Dont overlook NA pack 8 at the same site as 1 to 7.

You need to have FTX Global for the NA airports volume 1-9 to work.

True, but A good year for FSX goes into that.

I'm sure that there are other programs like FTX Global, but I'm MORE than happy with it.

If I were strapped for cash, that's the first payware that I'd buy.

Just a side note on any of the Orbx/FTX programs - If you buy the disk set you can't download the updates (unless they've recently changed their rules).

So even if you have a slow internet connection, DOWNLOAD the software. I used to do that with a dial-up connection while I slept.
