On my Soap Box Again

Postby Flying Trucker » Fri Feb 28, 2014 11:32 am

Goodly morning all... <<s

I am sure the topic I am going to type about has been talked about many times here before.

Would like to open the discussion again, this is just a discussion and not a Poll.

Topic: Food & Beverage Recipes

Wondering if it would be possible to have a Separate Forum here to talk about Food & Beverage Recipes and how to cook certain foods.

Many may ask what does food have to do with a simulated flying forum...well probably nothing other than passing information forward.

However in Real Aviation food is a major contribution and should not be taken lightly.

When I flew commercial I liked the freight runs as being the Captain I purchased all the food for the crew on the flight, There was usually three or four of us and we talked over what we would like as far as meals went.
The company always supplied the tea, coffee, sugar, creamers, salt, pepper and napkins...
At the end of each flight the food left over was split between all of us.

I also liked to prepare meals so the Loadmaster or someone else would sit up front with my Number One. One kept an eye on Carb. Ice in those days... ;)

When flying bush I enjoyed many a good shore lunch with fellow aviators who were just excellent cooks. Many a good recipe was passed back and forth for wild game, fowl and fish.

The Old Girl and I did a lot of camping with our own aircraft and meals were always a concern as room was at a premium on the Cessna's. We had each and every meal planned out for the three or four day duration.
Problem was our family out grew what I could afford to buy and fly...

Flying in the military our squadron prepared it's own Cook Book several times and was in competition with several other squadrons who did the same thing.

Our family produces a Cook Book for our Family Reunions and the local Fire Department also produces a Cook Book every three years or so.

A thought or two:
---Keyboard snacks...don't get that keyboard greasy when flight simming...
---Flight Simming Snacks

Myself when flying real aircraft or flying a simulated flight I like:
---Onion and Cheese on white with salt
---Ham and Cheese on white with green onions

Wondering how hard it would be to design a Simviation Cook Book to add recipes to.. :?:

Just a thought folks...

You know, there is an art to making a good sandwich. My favorite is corned beef on rye with spicy mustard. 8)

There's an excellent windows program free it's call Bing Food & Drink. Allows you to save your own "collection." Gives lots of recipes with pics too. Might be a good way to start.

Come on, all you new-comers!... :D ....

At one time, our Forum used to the called the "Simviation Café", (1950's décor); where we all sat down together for a nice breakfast, and talked about everything...EXCEPT flight simulation... ....
...and some of us posted mouth-watering recipes, including gorgeous photographs of our results!

I suspect that the café is still open for members to cook their delicious meals for us all to see!

The furniture is still the same, with chequered table cloths, flying birds on the walls, and delightful waitresses eager to please to clientèle.... ;) ...!

So pop in. A nice cup of tea is waiting, together with a typical English Breakfast, with hot buttered toast and marmalade!
