Focke Wulf 500

Postby tinpusher » Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:35 pm

Hi all!
Recently, while surfing along several sim sites, I stumbled across the Focke Wulf 500 ''Kugelblitz'' (sphere lightning), a German WW2 airplane/flying saucer/helicopter, which (fortunately) never flew, let alone saw any action.
I find it a very puzzling aircraft because after startup I cannot get it to respond to any control input (throttles, control surfaces, whatsoever).
The accompanying ''read me first'' (Spanish) does not give any clue regarding the operations.
Taking off in a ''normal'' aircraft and thereafter selecting the FW 500 results in a very erratic flight behaviour (wobbling all over the place at apparently 0 thrust).
Has any of you out there information on how to get in control of this vehicle?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

It flies like a helicopter. Loads of fun aircraft, though.

Thanks for your info Boikat!
I never thought of the helicopter option.
There are no helicopters in my hangar at all, dont know how to handle them.
Will give this one a try though, because I find it an intriguing aircraft.

FS9 comes with a few helicopters, like the Bell 206.

I do not like helicopters at all and have removed every one of them from FS9 and FSX. I flew one one time when I was doing the race around the world.
And I must have crashed a dozen times at least before I finally completed the leg and the next thing did was to remove it.
I also do not have any military aircraft. Every time I downloaded one it never worked right. So I gave up on them. I stick with commercial and general aviation aircraft only. The other aircraft I do not like are tail draggers as they are hard to see out of the cockpit when on the ground.

I make that up by creating rather strange flight plans. I like to create the worst weather you can image and than create a flight landing at that airport.
I also love taking my Ready For Push Back B747-200 and than hunt down and try to fly into small general aviation aircraft. This is not as easy as it sounds. But loads of fun. <<q
