Wow thanks guys I'm talking all this info and working towards a solution of fixing it.
I reinstalled flight simulator deluxe back on my computer course I have windows eight I hate Windows 8 and I noticed this time when I go to the traffic setting and reduce the percentage it didn't crash. When I purchased this computer the guy at Best Buy told me you can go hundred percent on every setting the computer will run it ....that guy was a crock of crap. I have come to the conclusion that guy didn't know his ass from the hole in the ground
So again I appreciate you guys you're helping a lot hopefully I can resolve this problem soon. I fly out of Memphis international .....I'd like to get all the FedEx planes traffic etc. loaded for that airport .....Working. I'm thinking about just reloading 2004 flight simulator back on and doing away with Windows 8 ....Microsoft flight simulator 2010 deluxe but I hate go through all that crap so I'm I will continue on what I Have try to fix this problem.

I've had no real problems using FSX Accel on my win 8.1 pc in compatibility mode (Windows 7) since I updated my Radeon 7660D driver from the Radeon site. Previously I relied on MS update to do that for me. However, going through my update history, I found an entry that excluded the Vid driver. I tried a manual update from MS which gave me no errors, so I went direct to the Radeon site and allowed their download manager to decide which driver was best. Lo and behold, I can now change aircraft at any stage. I run UTX Canada and USA everything is maxed and I didn't have to do a work around except to repair the program due to a lost simconnect.dll.

Well I found one problem....... I went in and turned off auto updates on every program..... As of right now that seems to have fix the problem with the flight simulator crashing all the time. Now I can go in and change settings while in flight no problem so far....... So what should be turned off before you start up flight simulator....FSX DELUXE

Flight simulator deluxe select the flightplan to an airport for instance 36 and 18 when I load the GPS 530 it gives me a different approach plate for that airport how do you update. And it's like it's missing more approaches for that airport it only gives you one or two to select from in the box

Do you dial up ATIS first, when approaching the airfield, to ascertain the correct active runway, etc, etc?

Easy to forget that important radio sequence of procedures in the Flight Simulator.

Hello there, thought I'd add my two penneth worth.

To properly Run FSX as an administrator, you need to do more than right click the exe. (By the way, I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit)

So first navigate to your FSX shortcut, either in the programs menu, desktop or taskbar:
..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
(Or if you prefer, directly on the FSX.exe in the FSX folder, for instance mine is in: D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X)
..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Right click on the FSX.exe icon and select "properties" then the "compatibility" tab, then click "change settings for all users".

Tick "Run the program as an administrator" and apply.

That should be it.

You should notice that the program(me) starts up quicker too.

Hope that helps with at least some of the errors.

Cheers, For Danglia.
......Happy trails, Laurie.....

The way you can tell if any program is set to run as administrator is the fact that you will see the window shield in the shortcut.
As for me I have not altered my update settings and have had no problems at all with FSX or FS9. But like I said I am still using the original version of Windows 8. I have not and at this point will not update to windows 8.1. I just do not see any reason to do so.
Like the old saying goes if it is not broken do not fix it.

Actually Gary, Windows 8.0 was "broke" in that it wasn't until Windows 8.1 prompted the video card manufacturers to update their drivers to one that wasn't broke. I was having all sorts of issues with FSX running in compatibility mode, now with an updated video driver, those problems went away. Now, I'm not sure who influenced who, if at all any influence was exerted, but the fact remains, 8.1 seems to work better in the gaming community than 8.0.
