Holey great cavities, Batman! I would be pushing the invention of an antigravity belt if I lived there!

or I would MOVE! Not many places are safe from everything tho, earthquakes, sinkholes, hurricanes, and worse, Typhoons, tsunamis, criminals....sheesh! :o :o

Safe day to all! I'm off to do the Safety Dance in my front yard!

Pat☺
Have fun, fly high, far, and free!

Scary stuff. Much of the Miami area is on solid limestone, as anyone who's ever tried to sink a mailbox hole can tell you, so I'm not worried about it.
And my immediate area never floods, regardless of rain quantity.

Cold?? Hah. Hardly. Maybe a few days early morning needed a lightweight jacket, but we've long ago forgotten what cold is.

As long as they are not underneath your living quarters sinkholes are quite pleasant to swim in. They are like small temperature controlled lakes. The water is crystal clear and you can see 100 feet or so to the bottom. I used to swim in one near Gainesville that had the bleached skeleton of a cow on the bottom.

Another Simviation-induced flashback, this time inspired by Webb. How we forget over time. Sinkhole swimming somewhere south of Tallahassee, sometime back in the mid-70's on a trip up there with a few friends. Very cool to do.

A one hour BBC 2 program explaining all about sink holes, and what creates them...>>>

A fascinating program...especially for all those living in Florida!
