That "atomic wedgie" bit is just part of his insanity plea.
In some ways the world has always had it's full share of stupidity.
The problem, is that nowadays it's fashionable to display that stupidity with pride.
Personal responsibility is an idea that is no longer encouraged.
You are not responsible for your actions,
you were "traumatized" as a child. It's not
your fault.
You just need a bit of help and understanding before you go back into the world.
I mentioned this a long time ago, but it's worth repeating.
I recall in 1959 playing "solders" with green plastic army men. We weren't all that sure that the "cold" war would stay that way.
I mentioned that the easiest way to take over the country was to
quietly take over the movies, TV, and newspapers along with the school system.
All those things did actually happen in an unorganized way.
But my question is "who won?" The stupid people?
The end results are things like the drunk kid getting off after killing four people and injuring two.
One of them paralyzed for life, and unable to speak.The jury basically said "poor baby" and let him go.
