Landing thrills

Postby Apex » Tue Nov 05, 2013 7:08 am

Since most of us will never land at these, for real anyway, I thought best to post in this forum. Might want to try these in the flight sim.

http://travel.yahoo.com/ideas/at-these- ... 36749.html

The comments are [for a change] decent and worth reading also. The Yahoo homepage headlines reads "World's scariest airports for landing".

Other suggestions welcome.

Some of those listed may be "scary" or "thrilling" but as for Madeira Airport, Portugal, an island actually, 540 miles (869 kilometers) southwest of Lisbon....

The runway is 5,249 feet (1,600 meters) long and the curve isn't all that pronounced. Yes, it can be windy as any island stuck far out into the Atlantic may be.

In my very limited experiance, Laguardia airport is worse. The first time that I flew out of there I thought that the plane was going to drop back to earth, landing on it's tail! Restrictions, I guess, require a steep takeoff.

It 's times like that, that I have to remind myself that the pilot isn't suicidal. Maybe. :D

When I win the lottery, I'll move out to Madeira permanently. :D
