Would someone answer that dang phone!!

Postby BLAZE » Sat Oct 26, 2013 3:37 am

I am sooooo sick of this bloody ringing in my ears! Do any of you guys have this god awful curse? It's all day, every day 24\7\365.
Sometimes it's all I can do to stay SANE. It gets worse if I've been up for a long time. And it's at it's very worse in the morning
when I wake up. My ears are SCREAMING for about 1-hr after wake up. Then they go back down to this normal laud level for the
rest of the day.

If you have it, believe me I feel for ya and would like to know what the hell it is and how to get rid of it, or at least knock it down a few
Db's. I've seen some things on the boob tube for this condition. I'ed like to know if they work or not.

I don't have high blood pressure (well, sometimes I do :angry-jumpinganger: ) so that's out as the cause I think.

Please!.. Talk to me!

Tinnitus:
Bad news, Dwayne!

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Tinnitus/P ... ction.aspx

A curse! One of my Uncles (who was also very deaf) suffered from it terribly!
Its something you can never escape from! You can try to ignore it, but it is always there!

Your Doctor/Audiologist is the best bet, Dwayne, to get it correctly diagnosed!

I know that S***!
As Paul said "ignoring" is the best way, BUT that requires a strong psychological ability to get the mind thinking at something else!
Some older pilots suffers from it! I know that wont help you, but you're not alone.

I believe it's called TINTINITIS. Google it to find out more. You may want to consult a doc about this. I don't know what can be done about it. I get it very rarely, low volume, and it goes
away in a few minutes. We feel for ya here, it can be tough.

Sorry, got the spelling wrong:

TINNITUS

You can now Google it correctly.

When I was a teen I had it too. At the time it was thought to be caused by tension.

I stopped it be concentrating as much as possible on something. Eventually the ringing would fade away.

From the article;
"As tinnitus is often most noticeable in quiet environments, background noise such as music or the television can help distract you from the sound of tinnitus."

So, another solution would be to party hardy! Drink until you pass out. Wake up, and find another party or bar.

And the last solution isn't all that scientific, but if you want, I can easily help you cut that ringing in half!

One of the things that I concentrated on as a teenager, was girls.

If you can find a girl that you would like to....um... get close to, you could give her all of your concentration.

If worse comes to worse you'll no longer notice the ringing in one ear, or the other.

Which ear depends on whether she's left or right handed. :D

I have had tinnitus now for about the last 25 years. Mine is due to jet noise, shooting and not using the correct ear protection. I have constant ringing in the ears. Over the years I have learned to ignore it and when I can't then the earphones go in and I listen to music. Top tip, but a night on the beer really amplifies the sound, so if you are going to have a drink, either a sip and call it a night or nail on to the wall so you fall asleep quickly.......
Basically you will have to learn to live with it, there is no cure and nothing I have tried over the years has helped. Learning to ignore it has been the only way I can get away from it if you understand what I mean.

Thank you guys for sharing the fact that you have this curse and for the information and most of all for caring. I like the link Paul, Thank you.
As far as ignoring this, for the most part.. it works. If it didn't, I probly wouldn't be here to type this comment. :sad-roulette: <--- (LOL.. that's funny!)

I noticed that if I start paying to much attention to the ringing, it really drives me crazy. When this happens I do like you said and turn up the
radio or t.v. or simulator to drown it out.

I believe I know the reason for the ringing. between the ages of 15 to 20 I did alot of cruising around (High street, Pottstown Pa.) with the stereo
cranked up to 10. <--Strike One!

I also did alot of shooting between the ages of 20 to 30'ish. That was when my father and I were at are closest. They were good times with
my pop. One time in particular we were in are local indoor shooting range and dad said something during a reload, I was still shooting so I dropped
my ear muffs to hear what he was saying, when I went back to shooting... I left my ear muffs off. I took one shot and let out a yell. Dad said he
thought I had a catastrophic weapons failure as he put it. He was a military man (Korea) or as he put it (Kooorea).

Anyone who shoots alot and is familiar with the .357 magnum knows that CRACK that only come from the .357mag. I was indoors and in a
little booth with walls on either side of me about 1.5 feet away. I've never felt ear pain like that before or since. My ears rang for a solid week at
high volume. <--Steeerike Two

I don't know off hand what strike three is.
