I have a brand new Acer gaming rig. In fact I have nothing else installed except FSX, FS9, some music, and the online Flight Simulator game. The computer came with Windows 8 as an operating system and my flight sims, both FSX and FS9 were running fine. Actually FS9 was having an issue with textures on aircraft 'disappearing' behind the engine smoke effects, but that's another issue that's been plaguing me since my last gaming PC. The new rig is an Acer Predator, Intel Core i7-4770 Processor 3.4 GHz(6 MB cache) 32 GB DDR3 RAM, 3 TB 7200 rpm Hard Drive, 24 GB Solid State Drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 Graphics, Windows 8. As I said both FSX and FS9 seemed to run ok. I installed the recent update 8.1 and now on both versions of FS in the aircraft selection screen and in game views it's as if I were looking at a picture meant to be viewed with 3 D glasses. In other words there's a red and a blue picture that's separated. Anyone else experiencing this? I have tried manipulating setting in the Nvidia control panel as well as the computers own graphics resolution settings. I have also tried moving settings sliders in game on both FSX and FS9 with no luck. I tried uninstalling both versions of FS to reinstall and now I have an even bigger problem, I have deleted every shortcut and file associated with either version but FSX still shows in the program uninstall screen.
Additional info: both FSX and FS9 that we're running ok prior to the 8.1 update were versions I had copied to an external HD from my last gaming rig then transferred to the new PC. I don't see that this would have been an issue though since both ran ok. Any suggestions or info on a cure?
