I doubt if the above will work as it is the FSX reset tool and I do not think it has anything to do with the problem you have. No offense to Hagar intended
I Goggled the error message you got and came up with the following link
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=19662
This should solve your problem.
Mind you though you might still need to use Hagar's link to download the FSX reset tool.

Tried both, hagars one 3-4 times with no success. Looks like I lost FSX. Will MS refund me for the CD?

I recently had a similar experience with FSX and win8...Not fun, but in trying to get back in the air, I learned much about this miserable program. You will need to find and download MSKB928080...it can be found by Google search or typing in "Windows8 error codes" in the search menu. Once you have found and downloaded it, follow the instructions to load it onto your desktop. Next, you will go to your file manager in the desktop and go to 'File'...then 'Open Cmd Prompt' Once in the command prompt, follow the instructions associated with the MSKB928080 reset tool. Do Not use the command prompt in the Apps page...for some reason, it doesn't work. Once you have reset MSKB928080, you should be able to reload your FSX with no problems. Hope this helps.

nichos, search win 8 error code 1722. It will take you straight away to the download for my previous answer.

I did all those 3-4 times, from Gary & Hangard's info above, what I get is this below, & with such a result seems useless trying to install FX again.

"Cleaning up Token Store at: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SLDL\\SoftwareLicensig
Failed to delete the token store.
Error --HRESULT 80004005 "

I even deleted every trace of FSX from the registry.

SOLVED

Shame, Shame, Shame... I managed to install FSX.

In all those failed attempts I made I kept typing in the black screen " run as administrator" & was never accepted & thought it was because as I was shown as Adminr in User Accounts it knew I was.

Lo & behold, just after my previous post, I clicked on Start to do something & noticed a black icon, I clicked it & it opened the box as Adminr.

In the attached, notice the bottom heading says Admnr. but the top one just C:\ win....

Where the blazes did the Adminr come from out of the blue I will never know. I never put it in Start menu.

SO you were all right after all & must have thought what an idiot have we here. I do not blame you. ....Cheers

I don't believe any of us thinks we're idiots...some of us (myself included) may be a little slower than others, but we all have a common thread here and it's nice to be able to help work through some of the issues we deal with. Glad you're back on track. It took me about 6 weeks of trial and error to finally find my way through to re-installing FSX and I received much help from those here in the forum. Thanks to everyone, by the way. For the record, I doubt our problems with win8 are over, keep those downloads and directions handy!... <<v
