Hi Doug...
Every one has their preference when it comes to things like aircraft, boats and off road vehicles...
Me, I am a DeHavilland lover of aircraft.
I grew up around them.
The Taylorcraft of England Auster was a work horse in all kinds of flying, from military, utility, training and private ownership. There are few bugsmashers from any country than can compare with it. The aircraft is still a prize to own.
Although it is hard to compare the Auster and the Fleet Canuck they were two aircraft I loved to fly, unfortunately one of my brothers ended up getting the Auster and years later I bought a Canuck.
From farmers field to farmers field, grass strip to grass strip and even blending in with commercial traffic during the late 50s and 60s landing on hard surface both aircraft performed beyond many aviators expectations.
Grass Roots Flying they call it, HMM...perhaps there is a paragraph or two I might touch on the subject at a later date...
Again thanks for all your input Doug...much appreciated...
