A note. You might need to close explorer and start it again to show hidden files.

I have everything backed up, and am going for the re-install. Should I uninstall sp1 and sp2 before I do uninstall the rest of the game?

Just a Q.
Did you find your fsx.cfg?

First uninstall expansion pack (if you got it), then you can uninstall the rest one by one (if sp1 and 2 is up showing in remove programs).
Do a registry clean afterwards, and be sure all fsx folders (hidden too) are gone.

Sorry for you panting! Its a hard way, but most of us have been there ;)

I did finally find the fsx config file. I have it backed up as well as my logbook and flight plans. I should be back in the air this afternoon. This feels like a 100 hour inspection and maintenance. Here goes nothing.

I have been working on some add-ons. Taking a few pics for thumbnails, etc. Everything seems to be back to newish. All of the textures are there, etc. I even trimmed down my hangar to allow things to load faster. I just need to tweak the CFG file, and I'll be good to go. Thanks for everyone's help.

Once you get everything like you want it I suggest that you make a copy of the FSXcfg file and put it some place outside of FSX even on your desktop is not a bad idea but the best thing is on a thumb or zip drive or some other hard drive this way if you have to reinstall down the future you will have it saving you a lot of extra time. My self I keep copies of my Aircraft folder the Scenery folder and the FSX cfg file on a external hard drive This way if something goes wrong and I do have to reinstall FSX all I have to do is to drag the copies over and every thing is back like I had it before.
If you do not do this you will have to go through the entire process all over again and unless you have not added or adjusted the FSX cfg file you will regret not doing this.
