repairing acceleration hasn't worked, so a fsx repair will come tomorrow, hopefully this should do the trick...

thanks for your suggestions

I think this confirms that the problem is not with FSX. I've thought all along that this is a video card or display setting problem. You said earlier that you recently updated your video card drivers. Try going back to the old ones.

That would depend on your video card. I found this on the nvidia website. http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/driver_rollback.html

Hagar
Rolling back is not going to help here because you have to uninstall the old driver before you install the new one. And there will be nothing to roll back to.
Now if you still have the file that you used to install the old driver than you can uninstall the current driver and reinstall the old one.
I all ways keep the old driver install just in case.

Adam

Glad to hear you got it working.
I usually check out any new driver to make sure that it is for my specific card. I learned some time ago that sometimes a new driver is not video card specific but rather general in nature and therefore you should not use it. But I have to admit it is hard to tell when a new driver will work with your video card or not. If I am unsure I usually do not install it. And even If I do I make a restore point before I actually install it and make sure I have the old install file for the driver I am currently using.
