aircraft textures showing as Shadowed

Postby adamp89 » Tue Aug 27, 2013 12:19 pm

lots of my aircraft have starting showing as dark, but it's only on one side, and in certain sections. not sure why this is happening as it's only just started happening.

what's gone wrong, and how do i fix it?

thanks,

Adam.

Hi,

Can't remember exactly where this is but try turning off 'aircraft shows own shadow'
It might be worded differently but sounds like half your aircraft is in it's own shadow.
May not be but worth a try, what happens if you stay on spot view and taxi around? do a 360 deg turn,
does the 'dark side' come and go?

regards

Steve.

tried that, but no, its the seems like its the actual textures, for example: i have a dash 7 combi model, the whole left hand side is shadowed apart from freight door and main gear doors which are fine. turning has no effect, so it's not something to do with the light. also, its only ever the left hand side that does it.

thanks for your suggestion though,,,

This cropped up a while ago. It might be something to do with your 'Transform and Lighting' settings.

Sorry. I found the topic in my old emails. It was with FS9 not FSX.

Hi there,

Please ensure you have both FSX SP1 and SP2 installed.

This might fix your problems.

Have you added any new textures or any new aircraft lately.
I hope that you do not download new aircraft or texture straight into FSX? This is really not a good practice to do so.
The only thing that might work would be to restore your computer back to a date where you know it was working correctly. This sometimes will fix problems like these.
It sounds like something has replaced your textures.

WAIT A MINUTE this could also be a video card problem have you updated your drivers lately or are other games giving you problems as well.
This could be a sign that your video card is about to kick the bucket.
The two things I mentioned are the only things I can think of that might create this kind of problem. I hope you figure it out.

i have installed repaints/ aircraft recently. come to think of it, i think it started when i installed a repaint for the wrong model of an aircraft by accident, it shadowed the wrong places, i've since deleted that texture folder and have been noticing the same effects on other aircraft since... but i also installed a new graphics driver a couple of days ago too, so that's 2 possible causes. i tried a system restore to 3 days ago earlier today but that's done nothing, i may have to try going back a bit further...

I've uninstalled the repaint i thought started the problem, but it's not changed anything, so a system restore will happen either later today or tomorrow...

Hi again,

Try a repair on the acceleration first, if that still fails you could try a repair of fsx itself but you will need to uninstall acceleration first, do the
repair then reinstall acceleration.

so the system restore didn't work, so repairing acceleration might be the only option, I'll do that now, see if that works
