Just waiting for my FTX Global to arrive now...(and hope that it doesn't trash my frame rates!)

While FTX Global was working (it's my own fault that it isn't working now) there was no noticeable slow down in the FPS.

As to the missing "uninstall" - I downloaded FTX Global at the crack of midnight on day one. It wasn't in the download, and it still isn't mentioned on there website (just checked).

The only reference to "uninstall" was a warning to keep the files that it displaces during instillation, where the installer puts them.

I'm sure that they will come out with one. Eventually.

As to those who say that FTX Global is expensive, I disagree. I think that it's the best thing to happen to FSX in the two short years that I've been using it.

One of the things that discouraged me were the large numbers of scenery add-ons that only covered one section or another.

For what it's worth - my KPHL (Philadelphia Int. Airport) scenery was unfazed by the addition of FTX Global.

I think that many such airport sceneries will be ok. But it looks like most free-ware and pay-ware that was intended to make overall FSX scenery improvements will probably not work.

You have to ask yourself, is FTX Global better than what I have already? In my VERY limited payware scenery experience the answer is YES.

Indeed, OrbX FTX Global is well worth the money.
You have to keep in mind that these are JUST new ground textures.... but the whole world is covered. The amount of data is impressive.

Of course, you must also keep in mind that, since the package contains ONLY ground textures (and autogen), your terrain will look only a bit better than default.... Until you also install a landclass !! Then it will really blow your mind.

As we all know, in default FSX, most of the areas have a very bad default landclass. The coasts are imprecise, the rivers follow stupid paths (climbing on the mountains, not following the valleys etc...), towns and villages are often missing, deserts are all over the place, forests are either too small or too large, cultivated fields where there should be cities or forests, etc.... This WILL NOT CHANGE with FTX Global.

FTX Global brings new clothes for your terrain. But you'll need a good landclass to tell your terrain that the pants go on the legs, not on the head. See what I mean ? :D
FSX, even with default textures, already does quite a good job once you give it a good landclass for a given area. But this area will start looking terrific once you ALSO give FSX some good textures. That's what FTX Global was made for.

I think Trooper has opened up the .exe file to install manual!

Trooper.
That ORBX folder should be in FSX main folder, but as i see it, you miss something in subfolders.
I would copy the exe file out from zip and place it somewhere else, then try to run it. That .exe install is doing alot, all around your system, which you'll miss.
If you remember where and what you copied yourself, then remove it.

I hope you also downloaded the uninstaller ;)

Good luck.
