Please help! FSX plane smoke problem!

Postby jviec18 » Wed Aug 07, 2013 9:28 am

I just noticed a couple of days ago that some of my Project Opensky planes and maybe some others have a large white cloud of smoke or engine sparks around the center of the aircraft. So far I've noticed it happens on:
-Illinois One B737
-Air Force One B747
-Southwest West NC B737
-Most other SWA repaints.
It doesn't happen with the default planes and only Boeings. No Airbus' or MD's. Please help with this! It's getting annoying having to see a huge white cloud of smoke around your plane.

If I understand you it sounds to me as if FSX thinks there was a crash of some kind.
What happens if you start out FSX in one of the models you listed?
If you are seeing this effect right after start up then you could have issues with the contact points. But I have never seen so many different aircraft affected like this.
Now I do know that once a crash has been detected if you switch planes you will still see the same effect. So maybe this is what is happening.
I find it hard to believe so many aircraft have contact problems.
I hope you figure it out
But like I said all it would take is for one plane to have contact problems to create a crash effect than you would see it in other aircraft as well unless you reset or restart FSX

Could be a corrupt saved flight. Move your saved flight files to a different folder, fire up the sim, if all is well, than you delete the bad save flight files.

This is true indeed. Like I said all it takes is for a crash to be detected and than you are stuck with it the only way to get rid of the effect is to restart FSX
If you have crash detection turned off things like this can happen. FSX will still detect the crash but will not reset, leaving you with smoke and sparks coming form where ever the damaged occurred at.
