Cities not on list

Postby RAMPRAT » Wed Jul 31, 2013 4:41 pm

Hi, Ramprat here. Having trouble with states/cities. When I go to United States then states everything is fine unless I click Nevada then all I get is Rachel or area S-4. How do I get all the cities in Nevada back? All other states are ok.

Well let me ask you this 1st ???

do YOU actually have the original FSX Disks ???

IF You do,,, reinsert the Disks,, and there is an option to "REPAIR" you FSX ,,, follow the instructions.

but - be kinda careful, as any changes you might have made to any Default Aircraft,, might change back to original Default,,, , so you might want to copy & paste those into another SAFE Folder area away from FSX,,, and re-install them back AFTER the repair is complete,, if, that's Applicable to your situation ???

If you search with no filters (click 'clear filters') can you then find more than those 2 Nevada airports?

Do you have more than 1 installation of FSX on that computer?

In any case, try refreshing the scenery library files by going to the Scenery Library and click OK.

Just started FSX and something strange happened. Now have 2 California states to go along with my 2 Nevada states and when I pick an airport I get runways and ground equipment etc. but no buildings. Looks like I will have to uninstall and reinstall FSX to fix. Will try repair first to see what happens.

Ya - do the Repair 1st.

I believe you have to use all 3 discs if you have FSX / GOLD acceleration,,,, I had to anyway,,, there is a repair option on the discs,,,, it just over writes files and puts everything back in its prospective order basically.

I doubt that a repair or reinstall of fsx will fix the double listing. (Except the a reinstall will remove addon sceneries)

Sounds like you have installed scenery that misspelled the state name in an airport file. Try to disable or remove any addons that could be suspect.

I hate to sound like a broken record here but the thing to do is NEVER I repeat NEVER download anything straight into FSX make a separate folder someplace outside of FSX that way you can look at the files involved and catch errors. Failure to do this can cause bad things to happen.
ALSO if you can BACKUP FSX on a separate disk Or a external hard drive. I recently bought a 1 TB external USB 3. 0 hard drive and now have both FSX and FS9 backed up on it this sure beats uninstall and reinstall hands down. It was on sale for $65.00 at BEST BUY it is now $99.99.

Hi,

You have to be carefull with the repair because of the acceleration pack.
You can't do an FSX repair with acceleration installed because it overwrites the FSx files, you can try an acceleration repair just incase
but sounds like you will need to uninstall acceleration, repair fsx then reinstall acceleration.

I've just had to do a similar repair but on mine it lost all the carrier/F-18 controls such as shift + U launch bar, launch assist shift + I , and launch itself shift + spacebar , so check these out after repair.

regards

I think I have had this problem before and you don't have to touch your disks. What it appears is that you have an airport loaded that has misspelled information. You can either delete the airport with the misspelled state name and that will correct your problem. If you want to keep the airport then open up your scenery cfg file (Usually in Program Data/Microsoft/FSX) and open edit on the active cfg file. select "find" and type in the misspelled name of the state exactly as you saw it. This should highlight the file for you. Scroll down to it and make whatever corrections are necessary. Check to see if more airports have been added with the same misspelling in the cfg file by clicking on "Find Next" if you find more than make the proper corrections then hit save. Start FSX and open up the state. If all went well you will now find that you have one state with all of the airports showing under it. This isn't an uncommon problem. Hope this helps!

You do not need to re-install. Just got to Add on scenery and delete Area 51, both misspelled Nevada and California will go away . I personally like it but that's just me.
