The Optimum Recommended PC Specification

Can any one please tell me what is the ideal recommended PC specs for fsx deluxe? Playing with the highest resolution and details and with addons.

FSX is a very CPU intense program. Get the best processor that you can, then GPU, then RAM. I have an I7-3770K, GTX560Ti 2GB, 8GB (CL7) RAM. I can run all add-ons, REX, Traffic 360, etc... at movie quality frame rates.

As Gunslinger states FSX is indeed a CPU and Ram hungry program, as you can see by my signature what I use for a system now. I am able to max out all sliders and I use Active Sky Evolution as well.

As you can see by my computers specifications, FSX will NOT run very well at all!.... ...!

Dell Dimension 5000 BTX Tower. Win7 Home Edition, 32 Bit. Intel Pentium 4, dual 2.8 GHz. 2.5GB RAM, nVidia GF 9500GT 1GB. SATA 500GB + 80GB. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Micronet ADSL Modem only. Saitek Cyborg Evo Force.

(But it works a treat for FS 2004!).... ....!

Do not feel bad Fozzer my old system was worse than the one you are using. The system I now have is the first system that I have built in over 10 years, I always got my sons hand me downs. I was using a single core CPU that ran at 3.2GHZ and had multithreading, which was as close as you could get to a dual core CPU I had 4 gigs of ram But as you know you only see about 3.2 gigs.
My new system should last me awhile I spent about $800 on it. The only thing I did not have to buy was a CASE as I have a good Full tower other than that I had to buy everything else CPU RAM Mother Board Video card Ram Power supply new DVD and CD drives as my old ones were IDE and my mother board has no IDE headers on it. And of course a Operating system. The most expensive part was the QUAD core CPU $300.00 I have a second generation CPU and there is a third generation out now. But there is not that much difference between the two.

I can run FSX full max settings. As long as I use default scenery and very little to no traffic. Got a nice plane with an HD virtual cockpit? Prepare to get annoyed. Any addons will decrease my FPS to a stuttering slideshow. And that is after applying NickN's tweaks and tips.

Very happy returned to FS9. Full blown with every addon you can imagine and 100% heavy traffic; 70 - 100 fps everywhere...

Even after all these years of various Microsoft Flight Simulators, I still cant figure out why everyone and his dog still have tremendous problems trying to run FSX smoothly, even using the latest, super-dooper, high specification computers, compared to the previous Flight Sims!

I can only imagine that FSX was was written with a very inefficient code, (unlike FS 2002/FS 2004), almost like compiled BASIC?

Even folks with the latest Intel i7 Central processors and other high-level hardware, etc, run into difficulties trying to run it to their satisfaction.

Its all a great mystery to me!

Paul, I don't think it was written with a bad code. I think it was written to last a long time. Since it was obviously the last flightsim MS was ever to build, it has to keep future customers happy too. Because computers evolve every year, one day in the near future there will be a computer available (for a reasonable price) that will run FSX smoothly without many troubles. This way, MS is secured of a steady income of FSX being sold. That the customers of the past and today, still bitch and moan about it, is not really MS problem. They left the solution to the PC manufacturers...
