Making a flight video

Postby BigT-65 » Sun Jul 14, 2013 11:31 pm

I want to make a flight video that I can email to someone who doesn't currently have a flight simulator. I tried the one in flight simulator. It looked like it was working OK but when I played it back it showed me crashing or going into space. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Thanks for the come back. I already have FS Recorder. It makes nice recordings but still can only be played in FSX. How are the flight videos that you see on YouTube made?

Most youtubers use Fraps (http://www.fraps.com/), a payware video capture software. What they do is record the entire flight video with Fraps in every viewpoint they think they might need (VC, right-side window, tower, etc.) and cut that footage up into one short video.

I use ZD screen recorder. Just an alternative to Fraps, which I think has not a very good performance.

I use the Registered payware version of Fraps, it will record everything including SOUND!!! unlike FS Recorder !

and you won't spend as much time rendering or re-rendering / converting the video footage either,,,

I see a lotta videos made using that FS Recorder by the younger generation, then they add some kind of Doctors office boring Trance music overlay to the Video with repeat slow pan video shots,, the videos last anywhere from 3 minutes to 7 minutes and at the beginning titled with some supposed Fantasy Production title company,,

Quite into themselves they are,,,,

What gets me, most never provide a web link below the video as to where to obtain the Aircraft or Scenery,,

and they Never Credit the Aircraft designer or Scenery designer / creators. at the end of the videos, there might maybe be a few exceptions.

I always try to provide a Link to the Aircraft or Scenery below the video with a short description and I never put any titles or long illusionary fantasy production titles at the beginning of the video.

I've about Quit watching most of the Flight videos any more on YOU TUBE, there getting to be about all the same, same ol' Jetliner which is usually a 737 or an Airbus,, just a different name on the side with the same ol' boring pan shots with the same ol' dreaded trance music.

theres a certain group of flight simmers out there, just following each other, chasing each other in circles copy catting each other to see who can get the most views and subscribers is what it boils down to, and they'll constantly beg for subscribers it seems.

anymore I just record the Flight the way it was flown without all the over the top Redundt weird angle shots and ridlicious slow pan shots, and I do or will add sound effects but I don't particularly like a whole video filled with music that takes away from the Engine Sounds of a great JT8 Jet engine or a Radial Engine Propliner.

Many go with FS Recorder because its FREE

they don't wanna pay the measly 36.00 for FRAPS for whatever reasons,,

But they'll spend all kinds of money on Aircraft and Scenery ,,, NOT a problem ?????

I've never had any problems with FRAPS, then I'm NOT using a generic store bought Rig either, mines quite Amped up and I don't notice any Frame loss much unless I get into a really populated area with a lotta aircraft and animations going on at the same time then I get a tinch of slowness once in a while, but nothing to noticeable really worth crying over.

Heres one of my Earlier videos when I was still learning everything.

FRAPS looks like what I need. I will get a copy and see if it does the job. Thanks for the replies. If I make a decent video I will post it.

Depending on the Strength of your Computer, RAM memory graphics card etc,,,

you may need to turn down or Off some of your Air Traffic and ground traffic as well as watch your cloud texture settings to be able to make a decent video that isn't stutter.

FRAPS is a good program, but I've got an amped up computer too,,, and I watch how I set up the flight sim before making a video,, little pre-planning ahead of time thinking ahead as to what type of shots / Video I want and where, and what I want in it, and what I don't need in it helps.

My computer can handle it. I made some test videos using FRAPS and they turned out pretty good. I didn't have to lower any of my settings. Here is the problem I am having now. The video files are huge so I tried using Microsoft Movie Maker to convert it to .WMV which is a lot smaller file. If I recorded the vidio with sound, Movie Maker says it has an error and makes me remove it. It does however play just fine on Nero and Creative Media Player. If I record the video in FRAPS without sound I can load it into Movie Maker and it does it's thing, but I have no sound. This is no fun. So, does any one know what the problem is with the sound and Movie Maker?

The New Windows Movie Maker is full of problems, I read on some video blogs,, when researching WMM and its harder to use then the older Windows Movie Maker and frankly, I thought the newer version Sucked !

Some use that Sony Vegas movie editing program, but, its expensive and I really have to wonder if they really use all that programs features to make videos ???

I found an affordable Movie Maker that's somewhat like WMM, only way better and won't rip a hole in your pocket, its called SERIF MOVIE MAKER , It has a ton of features that are fairly easy to use, and you can edit sound separate from the video, or edit both sound and video at the same time,, add sound effects, video effects, titles, Special effects to video and sound,,,

I got it retail in the Box for about $75.00 a year ago.

Theres a newer version out now,,, of Serif Movie maker tho.

Plenty of Serif Video Tutorials on YOU TUBE too !

Serif 6 works about the same as Serif 5 , both are about the same in how they work.
