multiplayer compatible airxcraft

Postby jag6242 » Sat Jul 06, 2013 2:25 pm

Many fsx aircraft I download will not work in multiplayer. Is there any way I can determine if an aircraft is multiplayer compatible before I download it?

Thanks!

Remember...

..only "Default" aircraft are programmed to appear correctly in the Flight Sim Multiplayer...because everyone has them in their hangar.

If a fellow Multiplayer(s) does not have your identical downloaded and installed aircraft in his/her hangar, the flight sim will try and show the nearest "Default" type instead!

Either use Default aircraft...or arrange for the other Multiplayer(s) to install the same downloaded model(s).

Its a quirk of the Flight Sim...FS 2004 and FSX... :D ...!

...PS...

Your own downloaded Aircraft will appear to you, in your Multiplayer flight, with no problems at all, but the same identical aircraft will not appear to others in the session, unless they all have the same identical aircraft in their own hangar(s).
They will only see an aircraft with a similar configuration, (possibly default).

For a quick Multiplayer flight with no problems, everyone select a default aircraft. They will all appear correctly to everyone in the Session then!!.... :D ...!

I know we have to have identical aircraft, and in multiplayer we always do. We often download new aircraft at the same time from the same site. Some new aircraft will work perfectly, and others cause fatal error on all computers connected to host.

Hello, can you give us some examples of bad multiplayer aircraft? Maybe we can see if we have the same problems with the same ones or not.

Excellent suggestion!

This will show whether the problem is with the actual aircraft model itself, or with the Multiplayer FS Host connection, (sometimes due to unopened router ports on some players systems...the session gets closed down/players get kicked off).

Unopened Router Ports are a perennial problem in Multiplayer connection!.... :( ...!

(...also make sure every player has their Frame Rate locked to 20/25 FPS max...NOT Unlimited!).

I have never heard of any air craft that will not show up in a multiplayer session. But I suppose if you were to use some payware aircraft that is highly detailed you might have a issue. One of the things about multiplayer is it is so dependent on the server that one uses and the settings on each computer can even play a part in it, and if you are using what is called a Peer to Peer connection than forget about it. This type of connection will drop you at the blink of a eye.
I believe the biggest problem is the software itself. One has a better chance if you are using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to connect with as they appear to be more stable Like Fozzer said most of us are running behind a router that has a firewall and than you have some one that uses a Dial up connection join a session and that will almost always cause some one to drop off or not see things like they should.
Some Virtual Airlines have a VPN to connect to when using multiplayer As stated above these are about the best you can get, but even here one can have issues
These are just one of the reason I do not expect much out of multiplayer ther is just so much one has to do in order to get it to work like it should.
It use to drive me crazy lie you I used to fly multiplayer all the time and it is fun to watch others land and take off at a central spot. As long as you do not expect to see other aircraft like they should be seen

I can remember in the far distant past, (in the old dial-up internet days!), we used to connect to one of the Flyers IP Address which he supplied to all of us in the session.

This occasionally worked, but we suffered many drop-outs/disconnects.

Nowadays many/most of us use the various FSHost Servers ....>>>> http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/
...which appear in the FSHostspy list here...>>> http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshostspy/

(...and use FSHostClient ...>>> http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost ... lient.html connection for the FSX Flyers!).

These all work remarkably well...I use them for my Multiplayer sessions every day!

I/We just have to be careful to open our Firewall/Router Ports as usual, to prevent being thrown off the session (failure to connect!).

But otherwise, they are well worth checking out, just circulate a chosen IP Address from the list between your mates beforehand, and away you go!

Yea, I use this to find the current list of multiplayer sessions:
http://fsopen.co.uk/info/sessions/

comes in very handy for me and you can even see the players through a map in real time :)
