Theres a bug in my gauge salad ?

Postby BLAZE » Mon Jun 24, 2013 3:58 pm

Hello Gents, :confusion-helpsos:

I'm reloading my hanger after that HDD melt down I had about four months or so back. I ran into an old problem I had
with a "PAD" aircraft package, I never fixed it back then, it was one of those deals that you put on the back burner but
forget to get back to. :icon-rolleyes:

Its a real nice aircraft package (Thank you very much 'Premier Aircraft Design' for all your great aircraft!) The
problem I'm having is with the "MFD" & "PFD". The gauges are to small for the display window and all jumbled up.

As far as I know, this package uses its own gauge files. I did a quick search in the FS9/Gauge folder and couldn't find anything
that had the same name as to cause the old "doubled up gauge problem". But I could have missed something I guess.

The package listed as: "FS2004 Bombardier Learjet 60 Package 9.18Mb" at: http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=Learjet+60&x=32&y=9

Thanks very much. Cheers! :obscene-drinkingcheers:

You need to invest in a program called FSPANEL STUDIO.
This is one powerful program you can edit any panel you have add a gauge make custom bit maps for new panels, and the best thing is you do not have to have a PHD to use it.
check out the link http://www.fspanelstudio.com/
This program is worth way more than what they charge. And it works with both FS9 and FSX <<r

Hey Gary,

Thanks for the info man. Beleve it or not, I can't even afford $29.00 bucks at this time. Its a wonderful life!

I wonder if there is a fix I could download or something I could do by hand to fix this problem. I know the
plane will fly without the fix, but I'm one of those O.C.D. people that has to have it right. I mean, even if
I'm flying 'Tower-View' it still drives me nuts that the 2-D & VC panels aren't right.

Dwayne ...... Ready to start fixing manually .... :techie-typing:

Blaze --- I downloaded the Learjet 60 and can find no problems with the gauges. The PFD and MFD show up correctly on my rig and are very readable. Both gauges are in the panel folder within the ZIP file named "Lear_60". They are listed within the panel.cfg file as gauge04 and gauge05.

The only thing that comes to mind is that you might have unzipped the "Lear_60" gauge file. If so, you would definitely have a messed up panel. Zip files within a panel folder should never be unzipped unless the author instructs you to do so.

Please let us know when you get the Lear fixed to your liking.

I've been intending to check this out for a while now. Finally got round to it. Just to confirm what JerryH is saying.

This is 2D panel

& the VC

Here's a shot of the Panel folder of the Lear 60.
Image

Note: The files named "Lear_60" & "rcb_groundhandling4" are compressed CAB files (not Zip files). These are known as XML gauges & contain one or more BMP & XML files. They do not need to be extracted. The folder named rcb-gauges is also an XML gauge & the Panel folder should be left exactly as it is.

Thank you guys for the indepth information, and for the graffic illustrations Hagar. :music-rockon: I We You got her up and running. And she's swell!

I have just been BUSTED! Yes I did unzip the Lear_60.cab and caused this problem myself. (I'm sorry P.A.D.) My Bad!

I have a habit of doing this on some aircraft to do alittle tweeking. But now (thanks to you guys setting me strait :shifty: ) I know what the problem
is on a couple other aircraft I had this issue with. I just have to remember which one or two it was.

Thanks a bunch!!

BLAZE --- Thanks for letting us know that your Lear panel is fixed. No need to flog yourself in public. I'm sure a number of folks reading this thread have done the same thing in the past. More importantly, there may be some readers with exactly the same problem who now know what went wrong. That's the beauty of these forums.

..what I do when it comes to "Gauges".....

Even if they are included in the aircraft folder for use, I also copy them all into the main Gauges Folder as well!

It may duplicate the gauges, but it does mean that if I decide later to delete the aircraft, I still have copies of the gauges which may also be required in other aircraft in my Flight Sim Hangar!
(It avoids the "Missing Gauges" report when when "aliased" to a deleted aircraft, when selecting an aircraft!).

Also, as I use "FS Panel Studio" a lot, it does give me an enormous selection of useful gauges in the main Gauges Folder, to select from.... :D ...!

Paul...I like lots of Gauges!.... ...!

Blimey, Dwayne!

That 18-Wheeler has got almost as many gauges, etc, that I've fitted into the panel in my little Cessna 150, with the aid of a universal hole cutter, some tubes and lengths of wire....
...and a copy of my trusty "FS Panel Studio"!

...and an exhaust driven turbo-charger!... ...!

Paul.... ... ...!

As an interested Sim 18-wheeler trucker (Peterbilt, etc), What make/model of truck is that in your photo?

WOW! Very impressive job you did on the C150 Paul. Realism, that's what its all about. I would love to have her in my hanger.
Nudge.. Nudge.. know what I mean?.. know what I mean? ..nudge.. nudge. :D

I once joked to a friend of mine that I want to have a toggle for my ignition and a push button start on my pickup truck and have a toggle
for each cylinder and toggles for the break lights and head lights and the marker/nav lights. One problem though.. I don't think it would
pass inspection. :P

As far as the make and model of the semi's, I'm not real sure on that. The top photo looks like a Mack from what I see of the steering wheel.
the bottom looks like it also could be a Mack, just a newer one then the top one. I wish I could give you a better answer. I did a search for
Peterbilt/Cockpits but I got all different type semi's. The dang pictures didn't say what they are.

Boy, that top photo is of an oooold Mack, it has the ol'double shifter setup. That's back when you had to be a real truck driver. No power steering
no A/C double stick shifting. My dad used to tell me about when he drove with that setup. About how you had to shift with both hands at the same
time. FUN!

Hello Dwayne!... :D ...!

I would dearly love to ship you a copy of my wonderful panel.cfg for my trusty Cessna 150 Aerobat.....(c150_v2).....
(The super-fast one, with the exhaust driven turbo-charger, fed on Methanol, compressed oxygen, and dynamite)...

..trubble is, it contains lots of non-default gauges from various aircraft in my hangar!...(I love collecting gauges!)... ...!

Trucks: "18 Wheels of Steel" Rig 'n Roll....on my hard drive!

I often take the journey from Los Angeles - San Fernando Valley - to Palmdale, following Highway I5+I14, on the route taken by the deadly Peterbilt Truck in the film; "Duel", on my FS 2004, UT USA, and Google Sat Map... ...!

Paul...18 wheels of fun!... ...!

I have to admit... I'm also a Gauge junkie, and I've got it BAD!

I'm like Paul; I'll download various Panels and cannibalize the Gauges to use with FS Panel Studio. The more you use the software, the more Gauges you want to have, hence... the Junkie moniker!

Blaze... I think FS Panel Studio would be an awesome addition to your Xmas Wish List; it's the best $29.00 you'll ever spend for Flight Sim! I used it to create a custom Glass Panel for the Default C-172, and one for my trusty Ryan Navion, which I fly all the time.

"1955 Peterbilt 281 Tanker truck expelling thick plumes of sooty diesel exhaust" Yeah! That's what I'm talking about! Its a man thing,
woman just don't get it. and I don't care!

Three of my favorate sounds. the sound of a Harley Davidson thats one gear to high and at just the right RPM (I don't recommend it, Its not
good for the engine), The sound of a radial engine at any speed and the sound of a throaty Jake Break set on #3. The lower the rpm.. the
better the sound. (I don't recommend it, Its not good for the engine).

Yeah, FS panel studio. I have played with the free sample of FSPS and must say "What a tease". Every time it comes to saving what I did I'm
hoping it will mess up and work one of these times. But nope.. no joy! Just by what I've seen so far I have to agree with you Viper. No doubt..
money well spent.
