764 Won't Rotate

Postby Russell Irwin » Sat May 04, 2013 1:41 pm

The Skyspirit 767-423ERv5 that I recently downloaded won't rotate with normal takeoff settings (i.e. flaps 5, Vr=170, full fuel, etc.). I assume that there's a problem with either the .air file or the .cfg file, but I'm not positive. Any ideas?

Have you "Trimmed" for take off?

Some of my aircraft require correct manual trimming, overriding the default settings for the aircraft. Either they wont leave the ground, or pitch up too steeply!.

...also; make sure you haven't got the Autopilot engaged!

I am trimmed, I'm not overloaded (in fact, I tend to fly light), and my AP is off. I'll try restarting and maybe checking the .air file.

Hi, if the cockpit is same as other boeings, look at the top of the main instrument panel and check that every AP function is turned OFF, you may find level flight: ie alt and bank is still on with AP OFF.

Could you provide a link to the file to check it.

Well you usually take off with the AutoThrottle armed, but with some of these SkySpirit planes, they don't have any moving functions, and have a lot of bugs in them. I've had this happen to me in the Default FSX planes, and I usually reload the flight and it's all good.

Usually replacing the '.air' file with one from another aircraft that you know WILL rotate and take off will fix this.

Just rename the original air file. (as a backup) Copy the new '.air' file into the same folder and edit the aircraft.cfg as follows:

For example - if the air file is called 767-300ER-GE-CF6-80C2.air

Edit the aircraft.cfg file on the 3rd line

[fltsim.0]
title=SkySpirit2010 KLM NC Boeing 767-300ER VC

sim=767-300ER-GE-CF6-80C2 (do not include the '.air' text)

In order to use another .air file, it will have to match the centre of gravity of the model and other factors for it to work properly.

Thrust lines etc. may well be different between different models. Pot luck really

What is really of interest here is if the poster is the only one with this problem.

Have you actually checked the loading stations to see if the CofG is in limits. Might be nose heavy.
