Dual Radio Magnetic Indicator

Postby Flying Trucker » Tue Apr 16, 2013 6:54 pm

Good evening all... <<u

Having a problem with the Dual Radio Magnetic Indicator in Microsoft FSX.

http://www.google.ca/search?q=dual-need ... 44&bih=721

It will not change between:
VOR1 To VOR2
ADF1 To ADF2

This is a problem with the Beech Baron and King Air in FSX.

I believe it worked prior to today but I can't seem to make it change now.

Is there a fix for this?... <<q

As far as I was aware of the Duo RMI only worked only with Nav2 and ADF1 frequencies. This is the most common found in the default aircraft of FSX. As well in many other aircraft.

There are duo ADF RMI gauges with the aid of a toggle between ADF1 and ADF2 I have seen in other aircraft. The clue to be had there is the installation of a second ADF receiver in the radio stack. Then in some cases on the RMI gauge itself would only display the ADF only on one needle, and you would toggle between both frequencies, as the other needle was used for Nav2 always.

You will have to keep your eye out for a aircraft that has a ADF 2 direction finder gauge in it, along with the gauge file that operates it.

VOR1 works only on VOR1 gauges, and so on. VOR1 will not work on a VOR2 gauge( RMI in this case ). The toggeling between VOR1 and VOR2 is done through the PFD VOR1 needle on the default aircraft for FSX. So when toggeling to VOR2 your PFD displays VOR2 as well as the Duo RMI gauge now.

Or just perhaps you have it in GPS mode and not Nav Mode.

Thanks FoMoCo63, not sure what aircraft I was using when I could switch to use two ADFs or two VORs.

Much appreciated for the quick reply... <<q

Hi FoMoCo63... :D

I found the aircraft I was using.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_CV-240_family

It is the Convair 240 right here on our own Simviation FSX Download Site.

Convair 240 Package (Category: FSX > Vintage)

25.79Mb (13017 downloads)

Sure wish all the simulated aircraft that have the Dual Radio Magnetic Indicator worked as well...

Glad you found what you were looking for. FS Berlin Design Convair CV-240 I take it. I am familar with that aircraft I did a Western Airline circa 1948 livery for that aircraft and uploaded it here to SimV some while back. FS2004/FSX Convair CV-240 VBF CA-18 Western Airlines Textures http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1 ... ategoryId=

Works well with FSX as well, thats the version I use.

Thanks FoMoCo63

Do you know of any other FSX simulated aircraft that the Dual Radio Magnetic Indicator works like it is supposed to? <<q

Not sure why they did not put in a different Radio Magnetic Indicator in the Default Aircraft or Add-ons... <<s

There are quite a few styles of the Radio Magnetic Indicator for real aircraft they could have chose from....
