"Ole 728"

Postby FoMoCo63 » Thu Mar 14, 2013 9:27 pm

Alittle about this historic aircraft. It started life with Eastern Airlines in 1939, then aquired in 1951 by Wisconsin Central Airlines who became North Central Airlines in 1952/1979. In 1966 Douglas Sr. of Douglas Aviation awarded to North Central Airlines "Ole 728" a plaque commemorating this the 1st aircraft with the most miles, and time in air of any other aircraft. The record was broken later of course, and in 1979 when Southern and Hughes Airways merged with North Central they became Republic Airlines. Many Republic aircraft still carried the Herman the Duck logo on their liverys. "Ole 728" tagged along.

Later when Republic merged with another Airline Northwest, Herman the Duck met his end of an Era. Still forever remembered by many North Central fans. "Ole 728" when aquired by Northwest was painted in early scheme Northwest colors and now hangs silently in the Ford Museum in Dearborn Michigan as being awarded the 1st for time in air, and miles flown.

I hope to soon put together by repaints I do, the many faces of "Ole 728" This is how I use, and fly in my flight simulator for my expirences. I honor a carrier of the past and Wisconsin Central and North Central Airlines fly again.

Was there a North Central before the North Central carrier we all are aquainted with. Yes there was, the year was 1946 and the person was A.E.Padags of Stevens Point Wisconsin, Padags Flying School. This person started the very 1st North Central Airlines, "The Indian Trail Route".

Thanks for the replies fellas.

The top aircraft is a DC3Airways DC-3 freeware aircraft.
The next two aircraft are the MAAMS Sim payware aircraft. Used for the repaints were the DC-3 Passenger model type.
Sorry for not adding this in the text of the original post.

FoMoCo63,

Your NCVA is great; I love your screenshots! I am a huge NC and Convair fan. Are your airplanes available to dowload?

Thanks lynchee_flys sorry took me so long to get back with a reply. I seen you sent me a PM at fslive and I answered that reply. So when you get the chance go check it out. I have seen your North Central Group as well, quite a large group of members, and the stories just wow is all I could say. Even before the 1st contact was made I had seen your Group in my travels on the web. Herman is still alive as far as were concerned, and with groups like yours, and the VA I run he will continue to do so :) you can't keep a good Duck down.

Thanks for linking my site on your page, I appreciate that. Tell your Group as well I said Hello.
