Hi everyone.
I recently set up my own VA, i would say for those of you who are thinking of setting up a VA, how much do you want to spend?
Alot of VA's are on paid hosts with their own domains, they get good search engine rankings and have a more pro feel to them, i set mine up on a free host to start with and as and when the membership grows i will consider in investing in a paid host and own domain, paid teamspeak server and all the little tweaks.
i use the VAFS PIREP system, its free, simple to use. there are other systems that require PHP knowledge and MySQL knowledge that you can get for free.
When setting up your own VA, think about what aircraft your going to fly, where are you going to fly to, where are your hubs going to be based, are you going to offer freight or pasenger routes or both?
I decided to take the idea of catering for new pilots starting out in the VA community, where they can gain alot of hours, also as a good place for experienced pilots to retire.
i think above all the VA is going to be what you and your pilots make it, as long as its a fun and friendly place, people are going to join.
