Virtual Dept. of Defense

Postby tvale80 » Thu Sep 14, 2006 11:19 am

We at the VDOD seek to model the US DOD and Canada Air Force.   At current we have a variety of units to choose from.  The VDOD was formed in Sept. of 2005 as the USVDOD and has been operating since.  A month ago the VDOD partnered with Canada Charters and Cargo Virtual - www.cvcharters.com - With the partnership the VDOD has setup two RCAF units, 3 Wing Bagotville and 4 Wing Cold Lake as well as changing its name to VDOD.  After a few months after being removed, the VDOD is re-activating its surface fleet, which will include for a start one Nimitz class carrier, two Oliver Hazard Perry Class Guided missile Frigates and two Charles F. Adams Guided Missile Destroyers.

The VDOD also has its own flight server.  we can be seen at http://www.usdod.ddns.us/usvdod/index.php.

How is this a violation of copyright laws? From what I understand you saying, every VA in the world would be in violation of said laws judging from what apparently inobvious logic you poses.

For obivous reasons I would like to apologize for the actions of one of my members. I also considered the logic behind CW laws, and your being the VDOD and us being the VDD, there wouldn't be a case due to the fact of name variation.

Big Difference. Once again I apologize.

Gentlemen,

My name is Matt Hunter, and I'm the Deputy Secretary of Defense of the Virtual Defense Department (VDD, not VDOD). I would like to say first of all, that I'm proud of VDD and VDOD and their capability to co-exist. However, it has come to my attention after my Holiday Return that a member of the VDD has lied on this very forum. First of all, I'd like to appologize for this situation.

Secondly, I would like to explain something. In absolutely no way is the VDOD violating the VDD's copyright restrictions. If they were, we'd in a very professional and respectful manner, PRIVATELY contact them, and the person doing that would be myself as second in command or my superior and friend Brett Buchanan, the SOD here at VDD.

Third, I would like to explain what has been done about this situation. As the Deputy Secretary of Defense, I felt it was within my duty to handle this situation upon my return. I have done just that. Mr. Daniel Grennway has been removed as an Admiral, and has been demoted to the lowest rank of the Navy, and will be suspended for a period of 7 days, upon which he'll return for Executive Board Evaluation.

I hope that the misfortune of this situation only proves that mistakes occur and that the Executive Staff here at VDD is taking care of our issues. We will continue to evaluate our staff members. this will not happen again, and if it does, the consequences will be harsher.

Thank you all for your time.

Sincerely,

Deputy Secretary of Defense
Matthew J. Hunter
