JFK to LAX Speed Run Today at 1 est,

Postby ShaneG_old » Wed Nov 26, 2008 8:34 am

Alrighty! Since There have been no objections in the other post for this I will now post some official times and rules!

The day is Saturday Nov 29
Start time will be 18:00 GMT+0 by the simv clock.
It would be best if you chose one of these planes, but you are not held to having to use them, just better off for all if you do.

All are available here.
1.SR-71(alpha freeware with Chicilo update)
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/st ... 6&page=151

2.XB-70(with the update)
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/st ... 6&page=106

3.X-15
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002military39.htm

4.Mig-31 Firefox(with the latest update)
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/in ... =86&page=3

If you are going to use a different plane than those listed above please provide a link to it for those wishing to see the plane while online. Please no Payware. Keep it free and fun.

THE RULES!! Remember, these are to keep it fair and fun for everybody. ;)

1. Weather set to clear skies, no wind. No advantage and easier on frames for everyone.

2.No unlimited fuel, fuel stops are allowed.

3.No altering of time. I have done this run in all of these planes, so I know how long it takes and will be running a radar, and I will notice. ;)

4.No CFG editing please. I'll be mad if I get beat by a Mach 4 Cessna. ;D (fozzer supersonic Baron is an exception ;) )

5.Unmodded Freeware aircraft only. This keeps it even for eveyone.

6. HAVE FUN!!! There are no prizes, no girls to kiss you at the end, just the knowledge that you had fun sharing the experience with like minded individuals.(ok, and some bragging rights! ;D )

HOW THIS WILL WORK:

Take off:
Since this is a bit unrealistic,

Nah... ::)...!

....even my Trusty Beech Baron 58 in Supersonic Mode, and all the flies scraped off the flight surfaces, will be no match for you Gung-Ho, Top Gun, Win-or-Die Chaps in your snazzy high speed machines....;)...!

I'll just remember to keep out of your Flight Path with my little Cessna 150 Aerobat... ;)...!

I may pop down from 'Frisco to LA, to observe the arrivals terrifying KLAX Air Traffic Control...and getting their Pilot's Licences cancelled!... :o...!

...That'll be a laugh!... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

LOL.... ;D...!

F...FS 2004...FS Navigator...and a pretty little C150... :-*...!
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

That's funny, you could play the totally stressed out traffic controller who's had way too much coffee, and freaks out when a fly lands on the radar screen and covers up a plane on the read out! ;D

..I can certainly watch all you Blokes wandering aimlessly around the skies with the aid of my trusty FS Navigator real-time Radar display.

If anyone gets lost, (as they will... ::)...), I can guide them in the right direction..... (maybe/perhaps?... :evil...)... ;D...!

F....G-BPLF...and a Fly Swatter... 8-)...!

I wonder how many will wind up in Mexico or Canada due to your fine directions. ;D

I had been considering using the Simviation International Airport as the starting point, It was created for this very sort of thing.

18:00 GMT...  :(

I'm at 18:00 GMT-5. Saturdays I work until 17:00 GMT-5. I'm afraid I can't make it to this one  :-/

However, I still plan on attending Sean's trip later that night!

I had a peek at your selection of Aircraft, Shane...

...(very quickly)...

I can navigate my Super Bikes around the Highway at high speed, but being confronted with all the gauges, controls, etc, etc, in those complex Aircraft, leaves me dumbfounded...!

Altimeter, Airspeed indicator, and Compass are plenty complicated enough for me... :-[... ;D...!

Interestingly enough...In my 10+ years of daily MS Flight Simming, I have never even had the slightest inclination to fly a Commercial Passenger Jet Aircraft, or a Modern Fighter/Bomber Aircraft in the Sim... :)...!
..so there you go..
For me, its C150's and Barons, bags of Mint Humbugs, (and Flex-wings), all the way... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

F....G-BPLF...Low and Slow...(As the Actress said to the Bishop)... :-*...!

Fozzer:   LOL! I don't know what half of those gauges do either! ;D
But I do know where the throttle, GPS, and the autopilot are. ;)

Not unless you got it flying in FS9. ;)
And the Simgameit planes are disqualified by rule #5 ::)

After browsing through the aircraft, I'll be using the X-15, but I'll have to add in some necessary gauges to it, such as a GPS, and a radio stack.  ;)
