Not quite sure where to post this, but in any case, the most current issue of Smithsonian's "Air & Space" magazine (the one with the F-4 Phantom drone on the cover) has a nice article on online flying in the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, featuring the VATSIM network.
It basically highlights how realistic this hobby is capable of being.  :)
