FSGV - Pearl Harbor Airshow/Race Event

Postby Katahu » Tue Nov 20, 2007 5:47 pm

Flight Simulator 2004 Only

Flight Sim Ground Vehicles presents a two-day special that will commemorate the 66th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor starting on December 7th and ending on the 8th at 11AM eastern standard time for both days. On December 7, the day of the attack, a moment of silence will begin followed by the airshow featuring the planes that were used by both sides during the attack. After the airshow, a mock dogfight will commence. And on December 8, the day the United States declared war against Japan, a ground-based race will begin [also after a moment of silence] at Honolulu International Airport using Dirk Stuck's Fomula 1 racers. The airport will be outfitted with markers that will indicate the plotted course. Everyone is free to participate on either day.

We will be using the official SimViation server for this session as most of us here have grown accustomed to it and have already tweaked our connections for it. For those of you who are interested in being a part of the airshow, please send me a PM with a link of the aircraft of your choice. Please make sure that the aircraft addon meets the following criteria:

1. It must be [glow=yellow,2,300]freeware[/glow]. Payware aircraft are not allowed.
2. It must be a vintage fighter, bomber, or torpedo bomber that was used at anytime [glow=yellow,2,300]during WWII in the Pacific Theater.[/glow]

I hope to see you all on either day.

[glow=yellow,2,300]PS: It is highly recommended that you disable any scenery that might have an influence on Honolulu Int'l Airport's design as the visual markers will be based on the default scenery. The visual markers will be available for download prior to the event at FlightSimGroundVehicles.com.[/glow]

Count me in! I will be flying the Zero (both displays and in the dogfight) and would I also be able to display my Mustang??  I might add another display in at some point too and will participate in the ground race. I'll be there both days.  8-)

EDIT: Maybe I'll fly different displays on each day.

Most unfortunately, that date falls right between the dates of my final exam...Hence, I will have to pass...Although I have to say, it sounds like a very cool idea...Would be awesome if you could gather 20 or so people... ;)

Ok everyone. The airshow/race is just right around the corner and I want to make sure if anyone else is participating in either day. I'm going to finalize the list of aircraft that we will be using on Wednsday. If you're going to perform in the airshow, I need you to post the name of the aircraft you will use along with the link to the download.

The choice is yours, really. I'm not that good at picking aircraft for others. :-/

The B-29 was used against the Japanese during WW2, so I guess it qualifies since all vintage planes in this coming airshow have to have been involved in the WW2 Pacific Theater.

Since no one else but Jet Black and Dragboat have posted their own aircraft, I decided to finalize the list. The list is posted here.

If you wish to use that, I'm going to need a link to that addon as soon as possible so that I can post it onto the finalized list. Send me a PM.
