just to clarify, are spectators allowed to fly in in what ever a/c we want before the show, as long as we switch to the paper airplane after we taxi?

I'll be driving right in with my Semi truck, park and then switch to a flimsy piece of paper. ;D

I'm having a serious problem trying to connect to the SimV server.

I understand that my router [connected to my main modem] may have been interfering, so I disconnected that one and connected the modem directly to my computer. Of course, I went to the control panel then went to connection settings then went to the properties of the connection and made the appropriate changes by typing the in the IP address, DNS, etc.

NOTHING! No improvement on my connection to the SimV server. I can connect to the internet and browse the internet with no problem, but I am unable to connect to the SimV server. I also checked the ports to see if they were correct [they were]. Again, nothing.

Any ideas?

I hate it when something as simple as this goes down at the last moment when litterly everything has been planned out. ::)

PS: I have DSL on my modem and my router is wireless.

All being well, I should be there as usual as a spectator, and watching everything on my "FS Navigator" RADAR.... :-*...!

Arriving in my trusty Cessna 152 CC-KDF, and then swap to my paper aeroplane.....and hope it doesn't rain!... :'(...!

Katahu, do you have any other firewalls (such as Windows Firewall), or anti-virus programs running on your computer?

The only thing I can think of if your router is set up correctly, is that you do have a third party program running in the background, or Windows Firewall, which can really screw things up.

Ah, but it's totally illegal to do that in the UK (and most other European countries), check the CAA rulebook. Oh, what a coincidence, the two main organisers of this are UK residents :P ;)

...quite right....;)...!

The CAA rules at my local airfield, (EGBS), state that during the show, the competitors or visitors must NEVER pass over the spectator crowd....>:(...!

...and during an air race, no competitor may fly below 500 feet AGL, (above ground level), during the race, and NEVER pass over the crowd...:o...!

Air Safety Rules are very strict in England.....
..."Gung-ho Pilots" not allowed... ;)...!

I have windows firewall turned OFF and I have zone alarm ON. I tried the connection with Zone Alarm OFF, but that didn't work.

SimV Airshow Server

Server: Sam's Sever (NFo Simviation)
Required Ports:
23456 UDP
6073 UDP
23432 TCP/UDP

hi, i'm also having problems with connecting to the server. Do you need a special program to connect? Because I don't think you can connect without a server IP in FS2004.

Best regards,

I tried to switch planes and my machine froze... par for the course for ol' Rotty.

It'ds very odd: I'd connected previously without touching any ports or whatever, but I guess because of the number oof participants or something, I had a helluva time getting in for the show... had to manually open ports in the router, etc.

Great show, though- too bad my power-off landing from the top of that Immelman didn't work out... next time I'll nail it, and maybe add smoke to the Dak. ;D

Good show chaps, next time I'll actually practice a bit before the event. I hung around till the end for the flyout but it didn't happen sadly. See you all at the next show. :)
