flying online help!!!!!

Postby flyboy4992 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 11:23 am

when i fly online and get a visual on the other players aircraft my frame rates go down to 2-4. i have my fps locked in at 10.

i am running a NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/ 64 pro, on a intel pentium 3, 256 mb ram

can anyone help me on this.

also i have been thinking about overclocking my vid card.
would that help? ???

Your computers REALLY outdated, to run fs9 properly you'll need at least 512mb ram (dont know what speed your processor is but that most likely needs upgraded aswell) and at least a 128mb graphics card (6600gt or faster)#

Overclocking your video card would help but if youy don't know what your doing you best not doing it because you'll most likely fry your card. If you are going to try it then raise the speed VERY SLOWLY (10 mhz increments is probably best) then test it for at least an hour on flightsim then if its ok raise it a bit more, this can be done until you get artifacts on screen or your vid card crashes and then bringing the speed back a bit. People in the hardware and tweaking and overclocking forum will be able to advise you Far better than I can, so ask there first if your going to overclock.

you could try turning the quality of aircraft models down and see if that helps aswell.

p.s. turn anti ailiasing off in flight sim and enable it in your graphics card settings instead (should improve your fps a bit).

yea you DEFINATELY need a new processor and graphics card if you want to run fs 9 half decently, in the system tray (i think its called that) there should be a nvidia icon right click it then (if your is the same as mine) click performance+quality settings->antialiasing setting-> 2x

You should have a icon down on your user taskbar (usually lower left hand corner but it can be elesewhere)
If this is a graphic chip on the mother board and not a actuall card I am not sure where you will find it but I would look in the NVIDIA folder for starters.
But with those specs I would not expect a whole lot of improvement. I would suggest that you invest in a new system espically if you have plans on buying FS X.
You can go with a store bought system or build your own. It is usually cheaper to build your own system un less you want all of the other software that can come on store bought system
Try www.tigerdirect.com
This is a great place to buy everything you need check out the bare bones systems that they have you can find everything you need here.
A barebones system can come with every thing you need with the exception of a opertaing system. That is a case; motherboard; power supply; cpu and some even come with ram. 8)

with a rig like that, sorry, but dont even bother Ainti-aliasing. you will consantly get 2-4 fps anywhere then. Save your pennies and get a new rig.

10.8 is terrible, it shows that your computer clearly cant handle FS.  You need a new one, BADLY! :o
