High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared

Do you mean Bill Lyons twin?  If so, no, you need to turbo charge it.

ANY Prop aircraft MUST BE TURBOCHARGED to handle high altitudes

I wont be able to make the first one, but I will try to come on the later ones.  Will the Statojet Merlin work?

Should be fine as long as you keep te speed down a bit and it has quite good STOL abilities.
For high quality terrain (38.2m)look here
Although if your not interested in that...or your internets a dial up modem(...fozzer) you might want to stick with simvs 78m terrain. ;)

Hi DAZ1204,

welcome to Simviation. You will probably have to download some parts of the SRTM mesh that you can find on this site. Here: http://simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm
Just don't start downloading yet, check this place for the parts you will need. You don't need to download airplanes, just stick to the default ones.

Crash ;)

Until Jimbo publishes a flight plan of the Rockies area I am curious at to the sorts of altitude we will be encountering.
The choice of my default piston props may be limited, due to carburettor problems at high altitudes...!!!
Anyone know how high the Rockies are...?
It's always a problem leaving an airfield, at high altitude in a deep valley, and clearing high mountains on all sides with a piston prop aircraft even with careful monitoring of the Throttle, Carburettor Mixture, and Propeller Controls...!!!
It would be nice to use a Dh Beaver, Aviat, or Bellanca "Bush-type- wheel/float" aircraft but they are not Default aircraft, and they are all piston props fitted with carburettors...!
That leaves the Default Cessna's, 172,182 and the Beechcraft Baron, and I am curious as to how they would cope with safe high altitude touring in the Rockies...?
We shall see when we can view the map of the area...;D...LOL...!

Cheers Pilots... ;D...!
