A dumb question: will all participants set their weather to real world (Jeppesen data) with the same update rate (like, say, High), and sync their clocks? I think this would greatly enhance the experience.

Tee-Hee.... ;)...!

The only problem with "Real World Weather" is that under certain conditions we could very well be grounded indefinitely because of IMC**.
Poor visibility, low cloud, unfamiliar terrain, unsuitable aircraft, and not having instrument ratings...  ;)...!

Fozzer says, "Beware of bad weather, it will kill you"...
"Trust me!"...LOL...!

I always select default "Fair Weather", 12 'O'clock Mid Day, 23rd September....
...which means...
Blue sky, slight wind, just a few high level clouds, plenty of daylight, and beautiful Autumn vegetation down below... ;D...!
...sorted for Fozz... ;D...!
LOL...!

As a real world Pilot on occasions, in my trusty '152, I avoid "poor weather" like the plague...
...and so does my Insurance Company...LOL... :o...!

...so....I dunno...?
I like the idea, but it could give real flight problems in real time...?

Cheers all...!

A fair weather Pillock Pilot... 8)...!

The AAIB* reports are littered with details of pilots, and their passengers, taking to the air under unfavourable flying conditions....
...and dying in the process... :'(...!

It's just that flying in broad daylight through clear skies can ultimately get a little boring... now imagine a multiplayer session where pilots don't know what the weather will be in 10 minutes time; picture yourself staring worriedly at the clouds in front of your plane; listening to the rumble of a distant thunder, while light slowly begins to dim.... struggling with the yoke in turbulence... spotting a lightning just a little bit too close for comfort... well, that could definitely add to the sensation, wouldn't it?. And provide good snapshot opportunities too. After all, we are simmers, we don't really risk our lives and our planes.

Hi Monday Morning.... ;D...!

Well, under those conditions you really should be sat in the FBO, supping a cup of hot tea and phoning up for the details of the local weather forecast for your area and your destination... ;)...!
LOL...;D...!

FS 2004 is an excellent trainer for REAL pilots, and is used by REAL pilots for training...;D...!

Beware of Cumulous and Thunderstorm Clouds...they will destroy you...!
...and the snapshot will certify it for the AAIB..
LOL...!

Paul...The Weather Man... 8)...!

P.S. I expect to keep me, and my very expensive Beech Baron 58D intact,...thank-you very much...LOL... ;D...!

Real world weather all the time. Though it is sometimes hard to tell where I am or where the landingstrip is. But that's the challenge isn't it?

Crash ;)

Yes, that was my point. It's true, in real life we wouldn't dare to challenge the weather and fly anyway, but that could even be considered a good training... hope for the best and expect the worse.  ;)
Anyway, there's no point of doing that if everyone else doesn't, so I take it back.  :)

Hi Serpent...!

As all my flying is done in California, and the San Francisco area in particular, being on the Pacific coast the weather is often very poor, mist, fog and low cloud, and many times when I have used Real Weather the contitions have been so bad that I have had either stay on the ground until the weather clears, cancel the Real World Weather! or load up an airfield in another location....!
Flying has been impossible and dangerous for GA aircraft.

(You wouldnt want to take a Piper Cub out in that sort of weather and expect to live...)...LOL...!

At present I am listening into to Atlanta Tower ATC, and weather conditions on the Eastern Seaboard are bad, and all flights are subject to long delays..!

Paul... 8)...!

San Francisco web cams give a picture of local weather conditions...>

The weather was a bit hazy on real world weather so i did a VOR navigation trip but the sim crashed shortly after i tuned in the third VOR beacon >:(

The trip was going to be KHAF->114.10->117.30->112.60->114.20->114.60 and do a T/G on the ILS (111.90)->116.0->back to KHAF

passed some very big hangers at Moffet Federal on route to the first VOR :)

Bit offtopic ;D i know :-X
