fightingfalcoln,

Welcome to multi-player.

The "latency" or "lag" is basically the equivalent of "pinging" the server you are looking at.  And yes, 800 is pretty bad.  That to my knowledge is not controlable from your end.... it is mostly reflective of the path your bits are taking to get to the server and back.  But it MIGHT have something to do with your ISP and how they have your connection set up.

Yes, that is the Teamspeak that people are using.

As to why no one on the "SimV server" ........ if you look at all of the FSHost based flight servers they are very "underused".  The busiest ones (use FSHostSpy to find them) typically have no more than 30 people on at any one time in the whole world.

If you want "busy", you have to go to VATSIM.  That uses specific software to link up (Squawkbox).  At any one time there are something like 100 ATC people working and many, many hundreds of people flying all over the world.  The problem is, VATSIM is VERY much like flying in the real world.  So you'd best be able to fly like a real pilot.......procedures and charts and such.

Watch this forum for the various "Tour" flights that happen.  At those times, there are small groups of SimV polits flying.  But usually no more than a dozen. max.

For example tonight at 9 PM Eastern USA Daylight Savings Time there most likely will be a "Tour" continuing that is called the "South American Tour" organized by Jared.  This is the seventh weekly session....and we are flying out of Mexico City to ??????.  Watch for Jared's posting later today.

best,

.....................john

what i do about the "people on the server" problem, is whenever i play fs, i go onto the mp session, whether someone is there or not. That way, people will see your name there and join. (assuming someone looks while youre on ;D)

JBaymore, I guess the fact that I'm in New Caledonia has something to do with my very bad ping..... that's a loooooooooooooong way to the USA servers you know ;D ;D.

f16fightingfalcon (OMG :o), I think I'll do that, it's a pretty good idea ;). But the problem is that because of the time difference I have very poor chances to find someone to fly with. That's not a problem for me to get up at 4 am if a mp flight is planned at 1700 GMT but I won't do that everyday ;D and I'd rather join a few "normal" MP fight before joining a special one like the caraiban tour, I don't want to mess up your trip becasue of my lack of experience in MP games :-[.

dont worry about the time zone thing. SimV has people from every corner of the world. (see here)

i did it just today, (a little after i replied before) and someone came on. :) so i have proof that it works. ;D

Fighting Falcon,

I really don;t think you are going to "mess up" anyones "tour".  About the only way you could do that is if your ports are not set up right and you cause someone to get kicked or to not be able to join.

But most of the tour stuff is very "laid back" and friendly.

We all have problems at times... and everyone typically is very patient of stuff.

Give it a try.

best,
