FS2004 Multiplayer Problem

Postby russ687 » Sat Sep 04, 2004 3:00 pm

A quick question if any of you have experienced it and have figured out how to fix it:

Via the Zone, after connecting to a session, the game opens up like normal, then it says loading scenery, textures, etc., and then finally comes to rest at a frozen picture/screen (in my case its that of being in a Cessna cockpit looking down a runway).

Is there a solution to this problem? For the most part joining a game isn't the weird part, but after FS2004 has already loaded and a frozen screen comes up. At that point, sometimes I have to reboot.

Any recommendations are welcome! To some of you who may ask, I have the following system performance:

P4 at 2.2ghz, 256mb RAM, XP, 56.6 modem, basic 3d card

So as noted above, the game does work right on my PC, but for some reason not with multiplayer.

Thanks

russ,

Check if your firewall ports are opened correctly... or your schiools if you are using a school system...or your business... and so on.  See other posts in this forum about ports.

Also ....... if you are using dailup and it is not a clean connection...... it can cause all sorts of weird stuff.

best,

Firewall ports: I make sure that the firewall is off when doing multiplay, but there may be something else missing.

I am using a personal computer.

I will check the ports, but a little more info about them would be nice.

Finally, with dial-up, a clean connection would obviously be improtant, but is there a way to ensure a good connection?

Thanks for the promt reply.

Russ,

Sorry I missed the number of posts on my first reply...... welcome to SimV.

Check the "Multiplayer made simple" thread at the top of this forum... and check my other recent post here on how and WHICH ports need to be open.

Do some diagnostics with your ISP about your line signal... they can tell you how clean your connection is.
