Sorry, but I'm fine here. Alot of people go ahead and make new forums just to be the "ADMIN" and all that. Not to flame or anything, but anyone can just go and make a free forum from some provider.
I can tell you all that when I set up my own forums recently, it was most certainly NOT just to play at being admin. I was intended to be, and is, an extension of my site, to allow visitors, and those of a similar interest within FS (namely repainting) to discus, and show their work to others of a similar interest. Are you trying to say that NO ONE else should set up their own forum? I know Simv is good, but you can't make it the only forum going you know!
No offense, but perhaps establish a reputation for yourself before advertising your forum and seeming to siphon users off to your own site.
I am but 18, and I've already released over 50 repaints, many of which were exculsive to simviation.com. Whenever (and often wherever) I post screenshots of my new work I get good feedback, that often allows me to improve my work. I also get comments such as "You always make great repaints" so I dont think I have anything to fear over my reputation as a repainter. And i'm not trying to take users away from this site, after all I'm still here arn't I!?
I really don't agree with what has been said, I find that in a very short time a lot of work has been done there. I don't know how Simv started out in the beginning, but I'm very sure that also Simv started out small, just like Top Gun's friend forum is right now. shouldn't we be more supportive of our small friends (not rivals).
There is absolutely no way my site can even be considered a rival to the Simv, and it was never intened as one. Its got less than 10 members so far, but those include 2 other repainters, and those, including myself, that also frequent other forums, including simviation.com's. I havnt tried to offer an umbrealla forum that covers all topics going, but a more compact forum dedicated to repainters and their work. I always appreciate offers of support with anything I do, as i offer them myself, and welcome new members with open arms. You'll always get a few 'odd' members or posts, but thats people, you cant just ignore them, or the forums they visit, or we'd all just sit here not talking to anyone!
