Well, all is now clear in Dan's Forum. The moderator decided to hide the posts instead of delete so as to have proof in case the spammer sues on the grounds of freedom of speech.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. AFAIK there is no right to freedom of speech on a private forum. The webmaster (or person running the forum) makes the rules.

I had the same thought, I know the US is litigation mad, but that seems a little absurd. I don't doubt Kat's faithful rendition of what the webmaster said, but I think that he is wrong in thinking that he can be sued for deleting posts. No one is preventing this guy from saying/posting what he wants to, but he can just post it in an appropriate place. CNN wouldn't have someone naked and swearing in primetime just to support freedom of speech.........would they?  :-?  ;)

if we knew the dude's IP address, people could stop servers serving that IP, therefore eliminating his stupid insulting revolting ways.

I don't know. I've seen pretty some pretty absurd litigators here in the US win over stupid things; but then again, Dan's forum is based in France. Who know how that country deals with wild litigations.
