Individual forum differences

Postby stuart1044 » Thu May 03, 2007 10:35 am

The title does not really describe what i mean, but its the best way i could think of lol ;D

Why is it in the Music and entertainment board, it says at the bottom that you can not post towards you post count?

Not that im bothered about it, but just wondered why?

Thanks :)

An executive decision was made by Pete about the spamming that was going on to boost post counts as some people thought it important (it isn't, tis quality not quantity, in fact there are some people here with a mere 2 stars under their name that I'd sooner listen to and learn from than people with 5 stars and a heap of posts.... ironic as I'm probably one of the worst offenders and a lot of my posts have been in the joke forum).

It may just have been an experiment - but I have no recollection of changing that board nor can I see any reason why THAT board - which makes me think someone (& not me because post counts are not an issue with me either way) may have been experimenting....

Pete it must have been one of those Friday evening discussions in the Admin forum 'cos I have a vague recollection about you saying you'd stop the post count on the Entertainment forum ;)

Only just noticed this thread ........... There was a conversation about removing the post count from some of the forums mainly to stop "post count bumping" threads such as "What music are you listening to."

I'll hold my hands up :) :) ...... I stopped the post count for the Music forum ..... quite frankly I'm amazed it took so long for anyone to notice, let alone mention it. It can also be noted that the speed at which the What music are you listening to thread was growing has significantly slowed.
