Dear Men of room 101

Postby gaztop » Tue Jun 22, 2004 10:47 am

When a person, such as myself, posts in a forum, and you nice men remove that post, would it not be polite to inform the postee?

And maybe give a reason why? That way, lessons are learnt and negative or misplaced posts will diminish.

I have discovered one of my posts missing in the History forum, if what I posted was out of step with the other members, why not tell me? I will understand.

Assuring you of my best intentions, at all times.

Point taken, however, as being the "mod most likely to pop a post" I don't recall executing one of your posts following a summary courts martial.

Usually we take the precaution to move the post to an appropriate forum.

Thave been random acts of posts going AWOL.

Gaz occassionally the server gets hungry and just eats posts.
A thread is never normally removed without a v.good reason (and permission from Pete), so I think you must have had a run-in with the server when it was peckish. Don't worry I've had dozens of threads eaten, but then I tend to post more than a normal person.

Hello Gaz. The only time a post is intentionally deleted is if it is very offensive and people start asking for it to be removed. It is always just locked. I would have to agree that the "Great  Post Eater" got hungry!  ;D

Like I have said, please do not take a post move as an offense to your post. We as Mods are just trying to keep the forums flowing smoothly.  8)

Thanks,
Dave

Did you actually see the post?
Maybe it wasn't eaten but never made it ?? I haven't heard of disappearing posts for some time.

Why don't you re-post it?

Like the guys said above - it's a rare thing that deletions take place & I for one always inform the poster that I have deleted it & why ...

i have only deleted 1 or 2 posts, and not in a long time. those were also EXTREMELY FLAGRANT.

so it wasn't me

also, i don't think this constitutes a reference to Room 101 out of 1984. . .i hope ;)

;D Dear all,
Thank you, for your prompt and reassuring replies. ;)

Bman, the post was not written to cause offense to you, or any of the other Mods, Especially Pete, the Guvnor.
As you know, I do try to keep my replies ect, light hearted, and the reference to room 101, is intended as a barrack of the Mods and Pete.
I think, I have been the victim of the server's gluttony, and will be writting a 200 page letter of complaint to Pete! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Once again.Thank you
Love Light & Peace

Gaz - I took "Room 101" to be a reference to the ready room at Bedlam, generally considered to be our collective rec room.  It has the latest in padded wall technology, chains, whips, all sort of  ... (Oh, I'm not supposed to say that?  Okay..)

Just make sure it is within the forum guidelines!!!!!!

Especially be sure that all pictures of body parts are under 100kbs in size and less than 800 pixels wide or the server automatically deletes them ('cos its setup to do this to stop Pete getting pictures of the mods bodily parts ;D) ;)

;D unlike any other place I have been, on this mad thing we call Sim, I feel at home, here by the fire, with a beer in my hand, and the friendship and warmth, of all the family,  at the Simaviation Inn.

Your not getting me in your dungeon!....I have friends you know......FOZZER!!!!.......WHERE ARE YOU???? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
