Lightning strike

Postby pete » Wed Apr 07, 2004 12:59 pm

My house was struck by lightning yesterday .... good news (for me at least  ;) ) I wasn't outside .... bad news was that my phone lines were melted & isdn box roasted to a melow brown. Luckily the electrics fused out immediately so no further damage ... but being off line is scary! Took the phone guys 12 hours to trace & replace all the blown circuits .... Back in touch with real life again thank god !! (It's odd to discover that being off line is a weird sub-cyber surreal experience & not to be recommended.... )  ;)

Result will be : Late update today .....  :)

Hi Pete, agreed being off-line is weird and results in strange things happening like refurbishing the bathroom (oh you're not married, you don't get that kind of nonsense, lucky you!!!).

Sounds like you came out of that reasonably OK compared to what it could have been.  Glad no one was hurt....and you still HAVE a house to repair.

best,

Hey Pete were you inside your house when this happened?  A few years ago I had lightning hit the power poll accross the street from my house (I was in the living room and saw it).  It was the loudest sound I ever heard-scared the hell out of me!  The sound set my car alarm off!  Anyway-it was interesting.

Its called Anti-Aircraft fire Richie, and its an excellent idea to stay away from it ;)

Oh, OK.

I suppose Pete should look on the bright side of this at least it was only lightning, could have been elephants! If that had happened he'd still be tidying up :o
