Combat Tactics

Postby Sytse » Mon Jul 25, 2005 3:10 pm

Since there are some people around that like to shoot now and then while enjoying the skies, why not have a tactics room where eryone can post their views on 'how to shoot 'em down and make 'em burn'?  ;D
It doesn't even matter what combat sim you have since tactics apply for all of them.
Good Idea?  ???

Imo a whole tactics room seems a bit too much...If the tactics apply for all CFS's and such...A single thread would be sufficient.... maybe 2..1 for ww1 and 2 kinda planes and the other for missle planes....at most these threads could be stickied.. This is al IMHO of course

that's why the CFS forums were set up - to discuss such things, which will turn out anyway into:

American tactics were better

British tactics were the best

You all don't know anything, the Luftwaffe tactics were the best!

Japanese and Italian tactics ran circles around them all!

When we all know that the best combat flying is straight , level and slow...

In a REAL fighter, e.g. a Spit or a 190 you need to get within about 200 yds and let them have it with all guns.
With planes like the Corsair the trick is to dive on the enemy at full tilt and smack 'em hard before zooming back up into the clouds and turn round for another go.
If someone is on your bum try and shake them off by pulling tighter and tighter circles.
The best way to learn about fighter tactics is to read some of the great autobiographies of many of the incredible pilots of WWII ;)

No, my aim is not that good... at the last moment, I've either waited too long to fire, or I jerk the control stick and throw off my aim.

HOWEVER, sometimes things do work out and I've plinked a FW with only the two mgs on a Zeke...

Are you sure you're not just confused with your tactics, Felix? Your plane may be lighter and more maneuverable but the idea is to 'let them have it' with the guns -- not 'let them have the guns with it';).

Wernt the rear R/T / Naviagtors of the RN's Fairey Fireflies armed with "rolls of Admiralty Brown" that were tossed at enemy aircraft?

If someone's on your bum, well if the flight model settings are on Hard then some planes you can flick roll it and the enemy will miss your plane. Very entertaining...;D

I voted definetely.

I guess people are right about zoom in, get higher (no drugs) and go around and let'em have it again, unless that plane isn't crumbling allready (providing it is Japanese)
