have you ever looked at the bottom of the main page of the SimV. forums during most parts of the day...look at all of those people on-line...I think we need a chat...there would be alot more comunication.... ..does anyone else feel this way?
Why does it worry you? I often visit other forums without becoming a member or joining in the discussion. You can usually pick up the information you need simply by going through a few old threads on the relevant board.
I also lurk on this one occasionally without logging in just to keep my beady eye on you lot.
The problem with a chat room is that a lot more can happen there than the creator expects....it needs almost constant monitoring, which would be impossible with volunteer mods.
Actually, we tried the chat thing a while back and it didn't work. There was usually only a couple people in it at a time (if that many) and it caused the forum to be very slow. As a result, Pete decided to pull the plug rather quickly.
If you are really desperate for a chatroom then why not use someone elses chat server? .... Most good chatrooms allow you to set up your own room and moderate it yourself .... as long as it sticks within the guidelines of the particular site.
I tend to chat a bit on Yahoo Instant Messenger with friends from back home that I went to college with, and chatrooms definitely need to be watched with a wary eye. Not really worth it much.
Ever been to a Yahoo chat room? They are worth the sneak just to see how many Pinocchio's noses are in there
