Why does it worry you? I often visit other forums without becoming a member or joining in the discussion. You can usually pick up the information you need simply by going through a few old threads on the relevant board.

I also lurk on this one occasionally without logging in just to keep my beady eye on you lot. :P ;) ;D

The problem with a chat room is that a lot more can happen there than the creator expects....it needs almost constant monitoring, which would be impossible with volunteer mods.
Great edit, Bob.

Actually, we tried the chat thing a while back and it didn't work.  There was usually only a couple people in it at a time (if that many) and it caused the forum to be very slow.  As a result, Pete decided to pull the plug rather quickly.

In my opinion, if you want to chat download AIM or another instant messenger and use that.
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
GeForce FX5200 256Mb
1GB DDR400 DC
Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they

If you are really desperate for a chatroom then why not use someone elses chat server?
.... Most good chatrooms allow you to set up your own room and moderate it yourself .... as long as it sticks within the guidelines of the particular site.

Try THIS one for a starter.

I tend to chat a bit on Yahoo Instant Messenger with friends from back home that I went to college with, and chatrooms definitely need to be watched with a wary eye. Not really worth it much.

Ever been to a Yahoo chat room? They are worth the sneak just to see how many Pinocchio's noses are in there

It's not his nose that keeps me out of there.   ;)
